Re: Need a patch maker
We have used these patches. They are very well made and the boys loved them. 2006 = funny car 2007 = rail 2008 = hot rod http://store.patchcon.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=PS&Category_Code=PWD Here are actual patch pictures on their home page. http://store.patchcon.com/m...

Re: This year's BSA Axles
Because of the lopsided axles heads, we decided not to risk it. So, we went with the older axles.

Oh if that were only true!!!!CuriousGeorge wrote:Nooby wrote:Strong leadership at the district would help. In fact, i can see no reason why there would be pack rules - only District rules if the intent is to have the winners go to a district race.

Re: Money race
I wouldn't run a money race. With our derby, the race is the culmination of a month of work, with the kids building their cars with parents and other adults teaching and supporting them. The winners are congratulated, the others are consoled, and it's a good family time. With a money race (especial...

Re: District Race Results
Again, congrats to both of you on a job well done. I believe we saw some of the tightest racing at the Districts this year than any other year! Here is a link to a pic I snapped of BenMar's sons car (it is the red/white/blue in lane one on the far right): http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c16...

Re: When can a car be disqualified?
I saw a case like this yesterday. The car passed inspection and was impounded. But as the registration / inspection process continued, it was noticed that the car in question had a notched front end. It was enough to give at least 1/4" advantage past the starting pin. This is not allowed in our...

Re: What do you think of a pretty car?
This pretty girl and pretty car won 1st place in our Outlaw Race. Ok, she IS my daughter and I am a little biased (and proud!) . But the car was the fastest there .

Re: Rules violations, kit cars, and attitudes (long read)
Rules are designed as guidelines, honesty and integrity can not be legislated. Reminds me of a law enforcement adage : "Locks are designed to keep honest people honest, thieves will always get in!" How does keeping rules to a minimum encourage creativity and imagination? I would think the...

Re: Noisy (whistle) Outlaw car
p.s. On a humorous note, Mrs. Bubba walked in on me when I was testing the whistle car by covering my mouth with the funnel and exhaling. She told me that she didn't know what I was up to but that my "alleged" whistle car looked more like a "contraband pipe" from Willie Nelson's...

Re: Rules violations, kit cars, and attitudes (long read)
2K10H, After the race, his father told me which axles he bought from MaxV. So, when I checked them out on the web site, I saw the car he purchased as well - The Lowrider. He bought a whole kit! After districts, his mother made a statement to the effect that if you wanted to win at districts, you had...

Re: Rules violations, kit cars, and attitudes (long read)
I have been reading the postings to this thread and want to comment/clarify on some things. We do allow grooved axles, the rules state the axles and tips must be visible. This is for inspection. If we can see them, they don't have to be pulled. We had a kit car dominate our PWD last year. He went on...
