Re: How to polish outter hub of wheel?
Well -this is the "procedure" 1. out of box (oob) wheel 2. add polish to outer hub area 3. used a filed/sanded axle/nail 4. insert axle into wheel in normal direction. 5. finger spin wheel aiming axle to the sky so weight of wheel is on axle head. Try to keep axle clear of polish. Polish b...

Re: How to polish outter hub of wheel?
Agreed - the location of the contact is what is most important. I doubt we'll get the heads flat, but smaller - the inner step will consume the place for the taper - and the direction of a head-slap (ouch) will be back towards the car parallel to the axle (maybe less wheel wiggle?) if we get flat ri...

Re: How to polish outter hub of wheel?
No altering the wheels other than a light sanding is the rule (polishing is a form of sanding right?), so the step stays. There is nothing written in the rules about the axles, other than using official BSA. We only wish to polish where the axle head will touch the outer hub of the wheel. E.g. the &...

How to polish outter hub of wheel?
Question - How are the outer hubs polished?
New wheels have a step, and the pro hub shaver can smooth
this out (we have to keep the step) - but after that, what tool
or device gets in there and will polish the shaved surface square
to the bore?
Thanks!

Re: Wood block weight - heavy or lighter?
Good input. We'll go with the kit we got vs taking the scale to the hobby shop to pick the lightest kit - maybe next year we'll try this out ;-) The design is less clunky than her design last year - shorter, and more pointy at the nose. I'll search for some articles or conclusions/summaries on wood ...

Wood block weight - heavy or lighter?
Hello .... In cutting our designs today, one parent noted a huge difference in feel between the last two blanks (us pokie folks were the last two to get to this) E.g. the wood right out if the kit. Post cuting (same cut - more or less), on one blank was 1.68oz lighter than the other. One car after c...

Axle removal and replacement tips ...
What are the tricks to axle/wheel removal & replacement? We want to play with aligning the car, and this will take a few removal/insertions - at least! Our current rules don't state we can use holes, so right now we're using the slots. Just mark the axle with a Sharpie & pull out by wheel, a...

Re: -|||===[ Check Your Rules ]===|||-
Ahhh .... I'm thinking if it is not spelled out it is allowed, right? No mention of using the slots implies that you can put the axles anywhere? (Even on top for the ultimate 3 wheeler). Or is it modern-day "stock" car racing interpretation - You must ask if it is ok, and have official res...

Re: Alignment Question
This depends on the track. Some are Aluminium, some wood. A buddy has the cub's track, it is wood. Riding the rail is *slow*. It is wood, unfinished and slightly rough. It seems when a car touches the rail and hugs/rides it, it is a loser (3 lane track) for that heat. This is the observation of my f...

Re: Bad BSA Axles?
Yow - first post ... I got two kits at the local hobby shop, and a couple of spare sets of wheels/axles from an on-line shop. ALL I mean *all* of the axles are out of round at the head. At about where the body meets the exposed axle, it is cool, round, .085". This tapers as it goes to the nail/...
