No altering the wheels other than a light sanding is the rule (polishing is a form of sanding right?), so the step stays. There is nothing written in the rules about the axles, other than using official BSA. We only wish to polish where the axle head will touch the outer hub of the wheel. E.g. the &...

Question - How are the outer hubs polished?

New wheels have a step, and the pro hub shaver can smooth
this out (we have to keep the step) - but after that, what tool
or device gets in there and will polish the shaved surface square
to the bore?

Good input. We'll go with the kit we got vs taking the scale to the hobby shop to pick the lightest kit - maybe next year we'll try this out ;-) The design is less clunky than her design last year - shorter, and more pointy at the nose.
