Re: 1 gram wheels

Its does sound like makeing your own (if haveing the right Equipment) you would be better able to control the quaility a little better than just a mass produced product. But as long as there is a product like DW wheels out there (IMO are not bad wheels) people would get a better product them someone...

Looking around alot of pinewood derby sites I've notice all sell 1 gram wheels. Now I not looking to advertise one's site But in everone's opinion does one site or maker seem to be better then another. :scratching: I'm under the conclusion that if the lathe or cnc machine how ever the wheels are mad...

Re: opinions on fenders good or bad

Thanks for the boost of confidant speedster. And yes we have had a lot of success but I don't think I know it all and I'm in the process of building a car. And its going to have full body fenders and skirts all the way around. I'm sure it's not going to be the fastest car we ever built, but I believ...

Re: opinions on fenders good or bad

That's what I was thinking re, I don't have a test track just a tuning board. So in a adult league it might be beneficial to have fenders. But know would full body or the half fenders be better. Or again having a test track be the way to answer that.

Re: whats more important amount of weight or com

Yeah darin, I meant if all the parts were identical to the t and the only thing different was the weight of the wood. Would 4 oz of ballast or 3 oz off ballast . Which car would be better. The ballast could be whatever you like to use for the senerio

Re: whats more important amount of weight or com

Thank you fat :bigups: , That what i was trying to find out in my senerio the denisty of the wood would have had to be different but regardless as long as the center of mass is at the let say 13/16 of an inch you could add as little as 1 oz and up to as much as 4 oz of addional weight

Ground clearence

I know the rules say 3/8 inch for the clearence of the rails, but has anyone built a car with fenders to get them as close to the track as possible. And if so how far can the fenders be down defore the fenders bottom out on the track.

I can find posts for the better mold numbers to use with the stock black wheels . But with the colored wheels is there a better mold number to use per color or are they all the same molds just using different pigment in manufacturing

Re: Which is faster???

up around 5-8oz things are leveling off...

but gains are still appreciable up to 16oz.
Teeeman if I'm not mistaking isn't it around 10 ounces that the weight starts to effect the wheel bore and put more friction to start slowing the cars down rather then speeding up.... :?:
