Re: Summer Camp

Thanks for all the help. I will have some helpers, but they will not be knowledgeable in pinewood derby. I have many tools but would like to keep it simple as possible... I am not sure what I am getting into and do not want to get in to far over my head. What are some good kid safe weighting options...

Summer Camp

Hi, I have been asked to do a camp for a local school. I would like to do derby cars as I have a track to use. It will be a week long camp and I will have children k-5 for 3 hours each day. All construction will be done at the school. I was wondering about car kits, I have only use BSA kits, are the...

Re: Tungsten Putty

Same thing happened to me, the last I order this year was just as you described. It was unusable in my opinion and I just reused the older putty from our past cars. I emailed the vendor and he say it varied from batch to batch. I wonder if this is the way it is now or we just got a bad batch?

Re: Rail Riding Ramblings

It has been my understanding that you do not want the lift wheel to touch the rail as it would consume energy while spinning up. If it starts out spinning with the others, it might not make as big an impact. I have never test this though, just assumed it would be slower.

Re: I need a derby bailout

I want to thank Stan and Randy for helping get ready for our race. It went...ok. I used the Stan's advice and did three rounds to get the top seven and three more rounds for the finals. I could not have done it with out much help from the other people there. It appeared hectic to me, but I think the...

Re: I need a derby bailout

Thanks for the quick response. It looks like two rounds with twenty car give everyone four times down the track. Do you think this well be sufficient to reduce ties? In the past we have only give out pack awards, I was going to do the same.

I need a derby bailout

Hi, I have just been put in charge of running our pack derby tomorrow night. I have never run a derby, but we won the district the last two years, so I guess I appear most qualified. Any support is greatly appreciated. Things I know, We will have a two lane track(I think) that has a light over each ...

Best Track setup

I know I saw a post somewhere that had tips on setting up a Best Track, but I can't find it now. I think they where using a laser level. Can anyone give me any tips or point me in the right direction?
Thanks

That is great to here about you win(s)! Now that you got the district going, you should see if you can pull a council race together. :D

2.2g Wheel Advantage

Does anyone have a guestimation of the advantage, in time, that 2.2 gram wheels can give you over the stock 3.6g wheels. Just looking for an idea.
Thanks
