Great looking cars. I hope they perform as good as they look!!
I don't think tinypic has built-in resizing capability. Your best bet is to resize to 800x600 using an image editor before uploading.

Re: Handicap drag racing
Handicap racing typically is used to take the equipment out of the equation, leaving the driver ability and consistency as the competition. If a racer exceeds his target elapsed time, he "breaks out" and loses the heat. This prevents racers from "holding back" during qualificatio...

Re: Safe ways to remove crimp marks on axle shaft ?
We used a small triangular shaped file that only cuts on one surface and does not cut on the edges. I softly filed a few strokes on the ridges and then ran my thumbnail down the shaft to check progress. Eventually the ridges were gone without fear of taking significant material off of the shaft. Thi...

That is a great deal!!
I agree that the pre-configured systems on the market are all Vista these days. It is almost as hard to find a new notebook computer with a standard serial port on it.

Re: Guiding hand needed for GPRM compatibility
You will find that almost all of the notebook computers sold at Dell Small Business are available with XP as a no cost option. Many businesses are not willing to make the jump to Vista. My sister just ordered a Dell Vostro 1000 last night for under $500 shipped. It has an Athlon 64 X2 (TK-55) CPU, 1...

Re: Melting Lead
Once you know how much weight you need to add, you can take the density of the lead and subtract the density of the wood to get an approximation of how much weight will be added by replacing wood with lead. Start by determining the density of your wood. It is best to weigh the block before you start...

Re: So, what does your username mean?
No scouting or PWD story here. Straight out of college as a green engineer, my first supervisor often referred to me as, "Naive Dave", mispronouncing naive to rhyme with Dave. Several years later, while trying to come up with a unique username, I replaced naive with knave to be knavedave ....

Re: Vintage car
This looks very much like the kits I used in 1966 and 1967. Of course, I filled in the big notch in the top in order to have a more streamlined car. I didn't think to reverse the direction of the car for optimum weight placement. Below is a repost of an old scanned photo taken when the cars were new...

Re: My time, your time... What is in a time?
While most of the timer manufacturers specify the resolution of their timers, I could not find a specification on timer accuracy. I looked at Newbold, Microwizard, and New Directions. I saw resolutions specified as fine as 10 microseconds. However, a 100 microsecond resolution doesn't mean that the ...

Re: Recover Data File GPRM
I have used a utility called Recover4all which can recover such files. The key to success is not writing over the data that has been deleted. The best way to do this is to remove the hard drive from the computer and connect it to a different computer as a slave drive. This way, you can avoid inadver...

Re: Homemade Timer - Debounce
Since only the first transition of the microswitch is required to start the elapsed time counter, the subsequent contact bounces may be ignored by the software. If the start is indicated by switching from a closed to open position, there may not be any bounce to worry about. The photodiodes should n...

Re: Boy Scouts running a traveling Pinewood Derby
We had Boy Scouts from our associated troop handling the staging, starting, and car retrieval for our PWD. Early on, I saw the potential for mishaps and instituted a new rule on the fly: "Each Boy Scout may only carry two cars at a time and only one car in each hand." This greatly reduced ...
