Re: Polishing Royal Racer Wheel Bores
Try to find a grab bag of suckers that has the small Sugar Daddys and Zip-a-Dees by Tootsie Roll. The bag I picked up at Wal-Mart contained both and they should fit the bore nice and snug. For an easier method, start with sucker/q-tip stalks that are too large, chuck it in a drill and sand it to the...

Re: Effect on Rear Axle Toe Angle from Lifting Front End of
I asked Stan about this but checking his work is understandably over my head. I was inquiring about how differing the cant angle on the DFW while tuning may affect rear toe. Laying in bed last night thinking about it, it dawned on me that two birds could be taken out with one stone. I've read that w...

Re: Removing Wheel Seams
Wow, it's not everyday an offer like this comes around! If you could it'd help me out tremendously. :) Reading prior posts here on setups so I can better understand what exactly is trying to be accomplished so I can someday pay it forward. Got plenty of wheels on hand, PM me an address and I'll get ...

Re: Removing Wheel Seams
I finally understand the benefits of your setup now, thanks for the patience! Looks like I need to fabricate some jigs and test them out for accuracy. I'll report back with pics and updated progress when I have something worthwhile. It sure would be nice to leave the bore mainly untouched and fresh....

Re: Removing Wheel Seams
This info is priceless thanks again for sharing. Pics are great too. For now on the Royal Ranger wheels I'm going to cut the mandrel like stated slightly over and polish to the diameter of the bore and leave it 1/16" shy of the bore length so I can square up then bevel the hubs up to a 1/32&quo...

Re: Removing Wheel Seams
Initially I looked into a 4 jaw chuck but passed on it to go with a collet system. Glad I was patient and waited on both. Very helpful pics, thanks for sharing. Looks like I got my work "cut out" for me

Re: Removing Wheel Seams
Radial run out averages roughly 0.007" while lateral run out is much less. I can get better results for less money with my homemade poor mans lathe than my Harbor Freight 7x10 but I am self taught, no guidance except forums and on a tight budget. The HF has 0.002" run out which transfers t...

Re: Removing Wheel Seams
Royal Ranger wheels have a seam smack dab in the middle all the way around the wheel and I've actually seen it referred to this in RR rules in the past.

Re: DFW behavior
Track testing would definitely help. Let me try and explain my logic and hopefully I can learn something in the end. "If the DFW is displaced from its axle angle sliding will be less"- I figured a slightly smaller axle would achieve this. Figured having tread with more grip than slickness ...
