Re: Need an extra edge for district race!

How do you burnish the outside edge? What's the method?

Thanks!

Re: Need an extra edge for district race!

Thanks! Maybe it wasn't that far apart but I need to try to do something. Otherwise my son will still be trailing. I'm going to try polishing the inside bores and then graphite them with the pipe cleaners. And of course, try my best to get the alignment back like it was. I don't have a test track bu...

Move weight forward for longer track?

Hey,

I had an agressive cog for a 32 foot track of 3/4 inches. Now the district has a 42 foot track. I have some weights which are tungsten plates heald in by screws that I can move forward some. I believe I read somewhere that a longer track needs a longer cog. Is this true?

Thanks!

Where to get micro polish locally?

Where can I get this micro polish I read about? Is there anything like this I can get locally for the bores to polish?

Thanks

Need an extra edge for district race!

Hey, My son did very well at our pack race coming in 2nd overall. The boy that beat him won by .05 seconds so I need an extra edge for the district race. I spoke with the father of the winner and he did everything I did as a rail rider, canted wheels, etc. The only thing I did not do is polish the w...

Re: Do you clean axles after using mothers polish?

Thanks! I had forgotten to ask what people use for polishing with (material). Two years ago I used a cotton t-shirt and worked well. Last year I used napkins I think which is probably much worse! Didn't do so hot last year either. So I'll polish with cotton material and then use cotton string up and...

Re: Learning the different race types

Thanks Darin, I follow this now. I'm actually working on my own pwd racing software and first trying to understand how each type works.

I've got to go back to your web site and read more now to see if I follow each type before I start coding.

Thanks!

Do you clean axles after using mothers polish?

Hi, I was wondering if you clean the axles with anything after polishing them with the mother's polish? I didn't know if the polish leaves a film that needs to stay on the axles or if you need to clean them afterwards? I plan to slightly sand the axles with 1500 grit paper wet but not too much so I ...

Re: Learning the different race types

What exactly is a bye? I see what you mean on splitting up the cars so no one runs alone. But I'm sure there are times you still have to. If you have a 2-lane track and there are 3 cars left, you'll have to run 2 of them and the last car just runs by itself. So does that last car running by itself g...

Re: How software communicates with timers?

Thanks, I got it all figured out. I'm going to write my own racing management software that is compatible with the major timers.

How software communicates with timers?

Hi Everyone, I know all of the software apps communicates through the serial port or with an adapter using the usb. But what I want to learn is the technical end of this as far as what is sent from the timer, how to reset the timer from the software end, etc. I'm a software developer and have access...

Re: Learning the different race types

Thanks Darin! I just read through most of your site on the race methods trying to understand them which I do for the most part. I do have several questions but I'm just gonna ask a couple to begin with hoping the others may get answered after thinking about it all. For the elimination methods, what ...

Learning the different race types

Hi, Is there anywhere such as a site that explains how the different race types are run? This would include Standard, Lane Rotation, Single Elimination and Double Elimination. I think I would know what lane rotation is - is this where each car runs once one each lane and you average every car's spee...

How to bend two axles the same?

Hi,

I was looking into the RR tool that bends the axle at 1.5 or 2.5 degrees because it would be precise. If I wanted to bend the axles on my own, any trick to bend two axles for the rear wheels to be the same?

Thanks!!
