Re: Interest in an Inaugural Cubmobile Event - Tips?

Check out http://www.pack700.net/2008/10/2008-cubmobile/" target="_blank We do this event each year. It is a "for fun" event. It is used for the tool requirements, is a great den project, and we get a lot of really creative entries. There are no awards other than a nice participa...

Re: Does Anyone Have A Working Start Tree?

I tried a couple variations. All are "do-able". And the electronics, in the end, are not that hard. Here is my problem with the whole thing: It makes every start take longer. It looks cool for the first few heats, but by heat 50, you are soooo done with it. The extra moving parts are just ...

Re: Does Anyone Have A Working Start Tree?

Hello all! It looks like there are several of you all working on a project. That is great! The project I was working on with the fellow from Picprojects was rolled into the one he already had and is now available as a kit. You will have to add your own lights and solenoid. Pic Projects.Org I am goin...

Re: Light Tree Sign

Its a bit overkill for Pinewood Derby, but read the next thread down and you will see that I have something close in mind that will work with the Grand Prix software. My initial version is intended to light LED's only. But, the circuit could be easily adapted to turn on full size colored flood light...

Re: Does Anyone Have A Working Start Tree?

Progress report... I have a working prototype that runs on a PIC micro processor, a ULN2003, and some supporting hardware. There are about 25 components, not counting the solenoid and the LED array's themselves. The tree is activated by the trigger from the serial port. The solenoid is 12V 1A The LE...

Re: Does Anyone Have A Working Start Tree?

Just a heads up, I think I have most of a working circuit. (In theory anyway) I have some PIC code, mostly snippets from other PIC timing and lighting projects. So far the board is looking pretty small, and single sided. So it would be simple to home etch, or you could even build it on some perf boa...

Re: Does Anyone Have A Working Start Tree?

Thanks for posting the schematic for the serial conversion. That is definately a bigger picture now. I am only kinda, sorta, a little, chiding you about the parallel support. All my lighting animation projects either have dropped PPT or are in the process. My derby is in January. So that is my deadl...

Does Anyone Have A Working Start Tree?

Since parallel is dead (This would be SOOOO much easier if they just put the parallel code back in) and the links to the serial to parallel conversion circuit are also dead, there is currently no "total" solution. There are bits and parts here and there. I think we need a real, reproducabl...
