Re: RaceReplay: looking to purchase new camera or capture de
I returned the StarTech and bought the Logitech C920 web cam instead. Now I'm working on figuring out the best combination of settings to use with it.

Re: RaceReplay: looking to purchase new camera or capture de
Sorry I'm not in front of it right now so I'm probably using the wrong term. I mean when you open RR and then click the gear. After choosing the capture device there is a button next to it, maybe an advanced button? When I click that button it gives me the error before taking me to the config/advanc...

Re: RaceReplay: looking to purchase new camera or capture de
It supports h.264 compression so I tried both with and without the box checked and it gave the same error both ways. I wasn't able to preview and even when I click the configure button I get the same error.

Re: RaceReplay: looking to purchase new camera or capture de
So I hooked up the StarTech USB2HDCAP (which shows up in Device Manager as Fujitsu H5x Video Capture) and tried to use it as a source in RaceReplay. In RR when I try to configure the device or show live preview I get the error "Unable to initialize video capture graph (Step=110). No such interf...

Re: RaceReplay: looking to purchase new camera or capture de
Well I ordered the StarTech USB2HDCAP and will let everyone know if/how it works. Im concerned that I can't find info on whether it supports live streaming in a way that supports RaceReplay. I'm pretty sure the USB 3 model would work since it specifically mentions support for DirectShow but it's qui...

RaceReplay: looking to purchase new camera or capture device
We've used RaceReplay for the last 2 years at our AWANA Grand Prix and it has been a hit! However, I'm not satisfied with the quality of video we've gotten since I have an older DV camera operating in WebCam mode connected by USB. I get 320x240 video and it's grainy and blurry. This year I'd like to...

Re: Guitar car
Nicely done! Looks like you also made a nut and a bridge or at least figured out how to attach to the saddle, gpraceman wrote: For my son's guitar car we used small brass nails for the turning posts and fishing line for the strings.

Re: Guitar car
Thanks all, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, and believe me I was trying to figure out how to add strings but I really couldn't think of how to do the tuning posts.

Here's my guitar car for the 2014 Awana Grand Prix (or "guicar", but that's just too dorky ;) ): http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag100/jjmuzzy/2014%20Grand%20Prix/CB7E0FF9-35E3-478C-88FF-D01851021784_zpsoygmpzay.jpg Here's one in progress shot: http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag100...

Re: Bubblegum Grand Prix 2012
I really like the cars, especially the gumball machine car. Did you glue the “gumballs” into the car or they just held in by the bubble? Thank you! They're just held in the bubble. There's a hole on the bottom that we fed them through, and then we sealed over it. By the way, the bubble is just some...

Re: Perry the Platypus
Very nice. I'm sure it was the favorite amongst the kids. Where did the hat come from? Did you make it or re-purpose it from something else? Thank you. Yes, it was a big hit. I've decided that when you can make a car that appeals to both boys and girls then you have a really good chance at a design...

Re: Wedge - strictly for speed
Smartyman, That is a sweet looking Awana Grand prix car. From the bottom view photo... It looks like alot of work went in to it. Did your Son have fun on the drill or drill press drilling all them holes. What type of glue did he use to glue the weights in? I want to get me some of that stringy glue...

Bubblegum Grand Prix 2012
Hi all! Thought I'd share some cars from this year's Awana Grand Prix. Here is my daughter's bubblegum car: http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag100/jjmuzzy/2012%20Grand%20Prix/ebaygrandprixcars015.jpg http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag100/jjmuzzy/2012%20Grand%20Prix/ebaygrandprixcars013.jpg ht...

Sanded tread to remove mold marks, polished bore. In past years I've tapered the hub, but not this year.rpcarpe wrote:Any wheel modifications?

Re: Bad case of the shimmies
Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm still reading through some of the other linked threads, but I have a feeling I didn't have enough drift. It was my first year using the pro rail rider tool, and that put a lot less bend in the axle than I used to with the ol' hammer and screwdriver method.
