Re: Trophy distribution for Pack and Den
Our pack gives out trophies for the top 3 in the pack as well as the top 3 in each rank. If a racer gets one of the top 3 in pack trophies, he will not get a rank trophy. Everyone else in the rank will be moved up. This maximizes the number of boys getting speed trophies. Are you saying that if the...

Trophy distribution for Pack and Den
We give out trophies to the top three in each den, as well as the top three in the pack. However, the pack winners get to go home with two trophies (pack as well as den). I'm trying to spread it out so that the pack winners do not also get a den trophy. The money saved can go to trophies to other ki...

Re: Pack vs Rank races
We also rank by race and are contemplating a pack race this year. We have 48 kids and a 4 lane track. GPRM will tell us who the fastest racers are in each rank as well as overall in the pack. Thus, we can still give out den trophies. However, I see the point of not knowing which cars are the fastest...

Re: GPRM Questions
I'm not trying to be overly critical but for next year please make sure the rules are clear and train the inspection team. This is how to avoid the same thing from happening next year. We did do this. The rules were taped to the box of every derby kit. We had a problem last year where the rules wer...

GPRM Questions
We had our derby last night and the software ran great! Before, we did everything manually. Everything ran so much smoother and FASTER with the software. I think we must have shaved off 45 minutes to our derby time. It was fantastic! What we really liked about it was that we had the current racers a...

Race Format Opinions
In the past, we have raced the scouts within their own den with the top finishers moving on to the pack finals. This year, we purchased GPRM and have the option of racing everyone together in one big pack. I was wondering...for those who have tried both methods, which one seems the best? It may not ...

We are going with the entire computer options package for the K2 to go with GPRM.

Re: Advice on Using a Projector
Thanks. That's exactly the type of information that I needed. I was wondering whether the GPRM would automate everything, but it seems like we would also need to purchase Race Replay if we also wanted to incorporate race footage with our video camera. We have never used race management software befo...

Advice on Using a Projector
I read some interesting posts on using a projector at the derby. We are getting Grand Prix Race Manager. I also have a camcorder that we can use to capture video. I was wondering how we should manage all of this. Can the software manage this for us so that all we have to do is hook it all up and it ...

Re: Curve in track and storage
Yes, I just looked at each company's storage box plans. The Best Track box is twice as thick and wide for our size track (4 lane, 32"). Plus, we would need to have two of these boxes for the Best Track! That is a big difference in storage space.

Curve in track and storage
In looking at the Best Track vs. the Micro Wizard aluminum Freedom track, we noticed that the Best Track has the curve permanently built in whereas the Micro Wizard track is built straight. It would seem like the storage would be a lot easier with the Micro Wizard without the bend. Can anyone commen...

Re: Track purchase advice
Wow, that makes the Smartline much more affordable if we want to hook it up to GPRM! Do you know if the output for the Smartline is USB or Serial? The USB to Serial Converter is $29 and the 25' serial cable is $19. That's an extra $48. But if the output is USB, then I would think I can just use an e...

Re: Track purchase advice
I took a look at the Smartline and it seems to be more economical than the Micro Wizard K2 or K3. The Smartline does not have price options for Computer Data. Does that men we won't need it to hook it up to Grand Prix Race Manager? That's a big extra expense if we wanted to use GPRM with the K2 or K...

Re: Track purchase advice
I was thinking of the BestTrack track and the Micro Wizard K3 timer. I have a couple of questions: 1) Are there any issues or things I need to look out for when using a Micro Wizard timer on a BestTrack track? BestTrack has their own timer, but it is so much more expensive! 2) The K3 timer package c...
