Re: Jacobs 2011 car in primer

Awsome!
My son is partial to fins and fenders. We used fenders last year and his design is leaning that way again this year.

Good Luck!

Council Race is ON

Hope everyone is having a great summer! I just got word that our Council has decided to hold it's annual race. In August. The politics and poor decision to cancel it earlier in the year aren't important :scratching: ANYWAY... Will's car has been on a display rack since March. The car won District on...

Re: Will's 2010 PWD Car

Whodathunkit,
No, but I remember reading that someone has tried that before. The fenders are a 1/2 in. wide so you could put a lot of tungsten down there. I'd like to test that though.

Re: Will's 2010 PWD Car

Thanks Iceman, We have a 42ft Best Track. No rubbing on the bottom to the fenders but at the trials we did see rub marks on inside of the left side flare. We checked the alignment and it was running straight going backward, so we remeasured (after the fact) and found that the fender was glued in pla...

Re: Derby Freaks R Us

VWAffe, Welcome! You aren't a freak here, you're normal to us. It's those that haven't accepted their place in our universe that are the freaks  In our pack I'm considered the "Typhoid Mary" for the PWD, I try to infect as many kids and dads as possible. The more knowledge the new dad...

Re: Will's 2010 PWD Car

Love the fenders on the back! Andy, Kentucky Pride right? :bigups: Gotta support the homegrown!! Will saw this design on your site and had to incorporate the fenders. They were very easy to work with and fit very well. You'll notice the lower section is carved in a little. We experienced a little r...

Thanks Everyone

Thanks everyone on the forum! Our Pack held it's 2010 PWD yesterday. What a long day. What fun. We've used a lot of what we've learned from this forum and from sharing with each other to build some very fast cars and help people along the way. A build class, a work-shop, a trial day.... No issues th...

Re: Alignment

 Wait! So if I understand Sporty right...and that might be stretching things for me today. I don't want the rear alignment dead straight for a RR. Thin design. Negative camber on the rear wheels. Raised drivers side front wheel. Dominant passenger side, inset 1/16". Axles holes drilled str...

Re: What music have you used before the race?

We used the original cartoon theme for Speed Racer, Eruption from Van Halen (it's short and the boys got into the guitar) and because we're in Louisville we played the "call to the post" before each session. That was pretty cool, we had a big crowd and as soon as that bugle call started pe...

Re: Tips for building cars using Krytox 100

I have a Krytox usage question... When or how would you make the determination to use it? Is it the weight of the wheels? The temperature? (our council race is in a tent in March)? Standard wheel base or extended? What if 99% of the pack is using graphite, do you risk contaminating the oil? Thanks f...

Re: Will's 09 Car

Well, I'm not sure...he called it the Red Dragon becasue of the decals then he called it The Dragon Killer. The body weighed 8 grams and that was purely by accident and scary. The car was supposed to be a little thicker. I've learned patience in this process that's for sure :) Don't rush...take your...

Re: Will's 09 Car

Teeeman, Thanks and I apologize for the size of the pics. I did select the smaller size. Our pack races on 32ft wooden track that is in good shape. We used tungsten plates thruoughout and for our pack race we were very aggressively weighted at just under .5 inches. We originally used the red ...
