How to Still Run Your Race This Year

With the Corona Virus pandemic making meeting together for special events inadvisable, has anyone looked into live streaming their Pinewood Derby type race? We had one of our software customers asking us about that type of race. Basically, holding the race with the audience online only. Just a minim...

Re: District races CANCELLED

I was going to be running a couple of Awana races this month. For now, they are being postponed until April. I rather expect more races to be cancelled or postponed. Certainly won't help our business, as March is still part of our busy season. Lots of people are going to be financially hit by all of...

Re: The West Coast Grand Prix

Maybe Randy has some insight as to X number of cars = X number of minutes to conduct a race. Depends heavily on how well the race crew is organized, scheduling method used and the number of lanes on the track. Could be as fast as under 45 seconds per heat or more than 2 minutes per heat. Here's som...

Re: Inexpensive Weights

Cool idea Randy! Another alternative for some inexpensive weights.. May be to use 3/8" steel round rod that can be cut to size and found in most hard ware stores as well. https://www.homedepot.com/p/3-8-in-x-36-in-Plain-Steel-Round-Rod-802447/204273959 That's a possibility, but cutting it up could ...

Re: Microwizard Fasttrack Timer Case Build

Looks nice. I like how you are keeping everything together (scale, car inspection box, timer).

Though, I would ditch the laser start sensor system. Too problematic. See viewtopic.php?p=53672#p53672. Use the mechanical switch instead. Much more dependable.

Inexpensive Weights

I found out awhile back that Harbor Freight has some weights that are inexpensive and easy to add to a derby car. I found these in my local HF. These are the same type of weights that we used for the Ford Fast Track racing series for Girl Scouts and worked beautifully. These weights are normally use...

Re: This forum section is for Off Topic conversations

Randy, I do that a lot so I don't knock someones Really important thing off a very popular topic. Tungsten is not as important as Eagles Grand Prix race. I'm on Derbytalk a minimum 3 times a day, year around. I scroll down every Topic and the date will jump out at me so I think I never miss anythin...

Email Notifications for Inactive Members

I've turned off new post and new thread email notifications for members that have been inactive for more than 3 years. So, if you are still managing to monitor Derby Talk, but are not signing in, then you will not be seeing these email notifications unless you sign back into the board and re-opt int...

This forum section is for Off Topic conversations

I've had to move a bunch of threads out of this forum to other applicable forums. This forum is intended for topics not related to derbies, regattas or cubmobile races. Make sure you are posting to the proper forum.

Slowly peel the strips up, while using a heat gun to loosen up the adhesive.

Re: GPRM & RR: Hardware & Setup Questions

Are you using the Auto Heat Advance feature? If so, is the delay set long enough for RaceReplay to do its job before GPRM tries to advance to the next heat? It is important that GPRM is not doing anything (and you are not doing anything in GPRM) that might cause Windows to shift the focused app off ...

Re: Derby Repair Tool Kit

Our problems are usually before the particular race starts. We are set up the same as we are at our workshops. After 35 years with a height limit of 2 1/2", this year our height limit has been raised to 4 1/2". The 25/64" drill bit and 3/8" lead rod corrects a common problem fast. Glitter is our bi...
