Re: Pins and needles
TXDerbyDad…. The Jewkes Block and the Silver Bullet perform the same function and are basically the same thing… They both allow you to drill precise axle holes and all of the fastest racers use either tool or buy blocks that have been drilled with them. I have used the pro-body jig and there is no c...

Re: Mid America
Yeah, I have been chasing Scott and his family for 2 years now, but have not been able to catch him yet. Scott, that was some serious hardware your family brought home on Saturday, and some seriously fast cars! Thanks for the inspiration and the great info you have posted here and on your website. ...

Re: Mid America
Thanks for the compliment Paul, you family is fast as well. It was a fun race:) I'm still pondering how your daughter's car got faster during the Kids Open Finals than it was during the Preliminary rounds. Did she relube the car? She moved out of third and into 2nd, knocking my son down to 3rd. We ...

Re: Fenders-Friend or Foe
I am not trying to stick up for John, he can do a fine job all by himself and he doesn't need any of my help. I am just trying to shed some light that there is good information out there and bad and unfortunately it is up to people like you to sort it out. In my opinion trying to push methods and in...

Re: Fenders-Friend or Foe
He was performing a simple test to show that fenders when used right will make an impact on speed. He was not paid to do a complete scientific workup to please the masses. The reality of the situation is that wind tunnel experiments do not account for all the variables associated with running cars w...

Re: Firet time drilling axel holes-question
Seth, That tool doesn't require a perfectly square table..... With a table that is not perfectly square you will create the same error on both left and right axle holes, but the holes will still be in a straight line. The most important thing is that the tool is held firmly in position while drillin...

Re: Firet time drilling axel holes-question
I would be more concerned the you rears migrate out when rolling forward and reverse. Take out your front wheels/axles and just have your rears installed. Roll it back and forth in a straight line with you hand and while holding the body level. If your rears always migrate out in both directions you...

Re: axle polished grit level - oil vs dry lube
I polish the same for oil or graphite... I don't think going over 12000 grit has any impact on speed and I usually go to just 8000 grit. A fast car has more to do with alignment then it has to do with axle polishing. Use the q-tip stem/Novus 2 method on your wheel bores. With both graphite and oil ...

Re: axle polished grit level - oil vs dry lube
... with oil spray the axle generously with Jig-A-Loo... Jig-A-Loo is a product that I am not familiar with. Since your post, 5Kids, I did a little bit of research on it to learn more. According to the MSDS Jig-A-Loo is 30-60% is Methylene Chloride - a solvent that dissolves plastic. I learned that...

Re: Mold #s on the wheels?
Hmmm, I dont have mine anymore, I sold mine. If someone has one, can they please use a micrometer and measure it ? I wonder what size wheel bores you have ? (had) Unless you had mushrooming going on in them. which is possible. You may want to contact who you bought it from. Do you have a micrometer...

Re: Mold #s on the wheels?
I would use a set of #2's or #9's. I haven't check runout on the OD because I cut all of my wheels and it doesn't matter, but they seem to have the least left to right runout and a .097 minus guage pin will not go through the bore. The bore on those two wheel molds are around .0965.

Re: axle polished grit level - oil vs dry lube

Re: axle polished grit level - oil vs dry lube
Questions. Scout racing Graphite only. 1. Doc Jobe Lecture 4. If I understand it, a large axle (.087) and small bore is best. Using Max V's 4094 axles, would I gain anything by sanding as opposed to simply polishing the zinc plating with Brasso? 2. The car will make a maximum of 12 runs. I thought ...
