Re: Start Gate
I thought I had already posted this but couldn't find it. While the solenoid works just fine - this door actuator has a longer throw making it easier to adjust. It was a bit harder to mount however. I have already built on manual start gate for a single lane best track and used this solenoid http:/...

I would think you just want to seal the ink, so yes clear coat should have worked.

Re: Bore prep
I just ordered the .055" carbon rod and the micro-mesh. I can't wait to try it. What Micron level is the 12000 micro-mesh? I found the chart on the micro-surface web-site that shows the 8000 as 3 microns. Micro-surface also sells the micro-gloss that contains 1 micron abrasive crystals. Is the ...

Re: Car in waiting
We simply buy an 8' piece of corrugated plastic roofing from Lowe's or Home Depot. It is 30" wide and you can get three rows of cars for the entire eight foot length. It only cost around $15.00 a sheet.

Re: Who else races on a 35' Best Track?
We did decide on the Micro switch. Using it and the timer lined up with the second hole in the Best track our current BSA car ran a 2.62.

Re: Time?
Some of the paints require 48 hours or even more before re-coating, so you need to factor the time in for the paint to cure. I have not read all of the comments above, so sorry if I duplicated. I have had some cars take a full week to cure hard enough to keep from messing the paint up.

Re: lighter thinned wheels for districts??
The lightened wheels are easy to inspect, but the axles are harder unless you make them use the slots as Stan states. We do not make them use the slots and allow holes to be drilled, so inspecting the axles becomes and inspection of the axle head. Some of the after market stainless steel axles are e...
