Re: Looking for Alignment board suggestions
Thanks Stan. So if I wanted to know what the comparable drift of 4 in 8 was on a 6 ft board I would leave 89 and 4 for the given test surface data and input 65 for the available? The answer being 2.13 which is obviously considerably less then my swag. Your calculator page may be useful for adults th...

Re: Looking for Alignment board suggestions
Everything after 3 or 4 feet is extraneous Having pondered this year to replace my 4 ft board with something longer I came across this. I had a wiggle last year that seemed imperceptable on my 4 ft board and thought (erroneously?) that a longer board might have revealed the problem. I may build it ...

Re: A big thanks and a question
This thread launched us from a mediocre wobbler in Pack races to 1st in District races. Initial setup included rolling car forward and back dozens of times to ensure rear wheels moved away from body in both directions. I had the drift at 2.5 on 4ft setup board. In the Pack race the car was fast (com...

Re: Precision Milling Vise - For Sale
I'm considering picking up one of these. Have you used it for milling the area for weights or drilling axle holes? Any qualms about accuracy? I am trying to decide between this machine or the Proxxon drill press.

Re: proxxon with the x-y table...
I'm afraid I've learned a tough lesson here. I cringed a bit when I noticed aluminum emerging from the hole of the PBT while my Cub was drilling. This offers an explanation for FS's observation that he has good results where mine were not so. While I do endorse the PBT, I think that since my son jus...

Re: proxxon with the x-y table...
Great points FS. Thank you. I used a cordless drill but recently picked up a pin vise and will definitely give that a shot. My "try square" isn't actually that. I wasn't sure folks would know what I was talking about if I said it was a woodpecker's square. It's accuracy is "guaranteed...

Re: proxxon with the x-y table...
Thanks PBT.. I was afraid of that. I was unpleasantly surprised to discover just how off kilter my axle holes had been. I recently used a process I found here to check them with #44 drill rod blanks and a try square; even having used the Pro-Body Jig (and a hand drill). I see the Proxxon in my futur...

Re: proxxon with the x-y table...
The mill seems pretty cool. would it not be just as accurate as the drill press and could it be used also for boring the areas for 1/4 cubes? If so, I'm considering the Harborfreight micro mill. I read it is the same mfg as the Grizzley and Micro-Mark machines.
