Re: Space Derby Rules-What to do About Broken Rubber Bands?

emaier, if the rubber bands break, it should be fixed immediately with a combination of help form the parent/cub and race officials. Our pack has a couple of extra boxes of rubber bands for just this reason. Also, before racing even starts, make sure during tech that the little rubber tube is wrappe...

Re: Glued wheel?

DE or anyone, if you are using a bent axle for the raised wheel, how do you tune this wheel? Isn't the raised wheel off the track? If so, then how do you tune this wheel? If it is not touching the track, is it tunable?

Re: Is there a cost to victory? You bet!

H20,

Congratulations to your son. Giving up only 2 goals over 4 games is envious, stupendous and miraculous. And MVP honors to boot? WOW, keep him at it and he'll get a college scholorship. Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Building a new car for district

To have the opportunity to build a new car before districts would be great for me. I am in the same boat, or would be if my district had PWD races, which they don't. After winning the pack race, we have discovered many other opportunities to make the car faster, and am anxious to try them out. I am ...

Re: Three questions on axle polishing

Just a quick thought. I once worked in the waste water industry for a company that filtered waste water. We had a product called a : Rotating Drum Vacuum Filter. We used DE, or diatamasious earth, swimming pool aggregate, very fine sand like material that was made millions of years ago when microscop...

Re: 1st PWD: questions after the fact

Tim, Our pack has very specific rules written and very casual inspections. 4 wheels, but not checked except in the case of a wheel that was like 1/4" above the track. Weight also. That's it. Because of my enthusiasm for PWD, I have been elected chairman of the PWD for next year. We have 3 class...

Re: Axle Oiling

Rukkian, So you metioned Krytox, Nyoil and Xoil. Are these the current state of the art oils used in PWD? Is you process of applying these oils the current state of the art process used by racers? The process you describe seems simple enough and makes sense. Do you wipe out the wheel bore also, or j...

Axle Oiling

I am looking for ideas on the best oil and the best way to apply the oil on axles. I have read about a couple of different oils, but are there others? What would be the best way to apply the oil? Has anyone ever tried to soak the axles in oil and then heat them in an oven? I remember an old friend o...

Well that narrows it down. Our Pack has a 6 lane Best track as the curve is very short and aggressive.

Re: Tools?

Stan, ya know, I was just starting to read some posts yesterday regarding tracks and saw references to that effect. I don't know which one, but I believe our pack has one of the two you mentioned. 1. So are you saying that one has a more severe arc than the other? That would help narrow down which t...

Re: It will pay off !

Aron, I can tell you first hand that by doing what Sporty is revealing to us is the way to go. My son went from never crossing the finish line last year to 1st in Den and 1st in pack 2 weeks ago. It was sporty that made that possible. I believe I owe it to Sporty to take what he has taught me and tr...

Re: Outer Wheel Hub Polishing Process

Hi Aron, I started with such a rough grit because after using the tool to remove the step, although it looked rather smooth, I just wasn't sure how smooth it was. What if, when removing the step, I created a rather large divot? By starting with a finer sand paper, it would not take the divot out. An...
