Speedster, Are you using a bent steering axle? I only use the pro body jig to mark my hole location, then drill on the drill press using the block or bullet. If your car is 3.2oz without any weight, you need to get it as far back as possible. With a chassis weight that high, you will have a hard time getting a decent com. If you are looking for speed, you should try and cut that weight as much as you can, so you can add heavy metal in the rear of the car...

Do you inspect your axle heads for damage with magnification after using any hard extraction tool?
Couldn't ever bring myself to use anything hard that might damage them after polishing. Besides the possible damage to axle head our wheel gaps wouldn't allow them to grip on.

If you car was subject to mishandling you might get a bent axle, then how would you fix it if it was glued? It doesn't have to be ball bearings(all though preferable in my opinion) - old lathes used bronze bearings/bushings - but they will wear faster.

Yes, but controlling the axial movement is the tough part.
