Re: In Memoriam: Dr. John D. Jobe
Thank you FS for letting us know he passed. He will be missed. I still use the book with the young scouts I come in contact with. On the first page he wrote, To: William Klingler, Hope you enjoy the book - Happy Racing, Dr. John Jobe, 12-19-2006. I think of him often. What a Great book and a Great G...

Re: Symmetric v. asymmetric canopies
Mr. FS made it very clear in his first sentence what he wanted to learn. He does not want anyone telling him how to build a fast Pinewood Derby car. He already knows how to do that. The cost of any dome plus shipping will probably stop most people. I think the vendors are missing something by not of...

Re: Tips for winning the SLOWest Car?
Yep, Mr. Eagle, it is a Remote control car. It is legal under our Outlaw rules. I built 3 , eight foot sections to attach to the end of our regulation track. That gave me enough room to get it shut down. I was going to have you or some responsible person operate it. I was not interested in a trophy....

Re: Tips for winning the SLOWest Car?
Eagle, your rules of April 6, 1:37 PM are perfect. If you run 2 cars at a time and use the 2 outer lanes, there should never be a problem. Many years ago we had an OUTLAW race after regulation racing. Here were the rules: The car must fit the track and stay in its lane. Nothing about the car can cau...

Re: Tips for winning the SLOWest Car?
Eagle, I'm going to be emailing you but I don't want to give anyone on Derbytalk any ideas. I suspect the only advantage I might have against others is time. Being retired I have a lot of time. Letting the timer time out should work. If you're running only 2 cars for each race that should solve the ...

Re: Tips for winning the SLOWest Car?
Eagle, your rules look GREAT! If you are racing on a 4 lane Best track, then using only 2 lanes is Great. That way the cars can be a bit wider and not come in contact with the other car. I think you will need at least one more rule. I suspect you will need to limit the time a car is permitted to spe...

Re: Cub Scouts pack 43 Space Derby Race
Our Pack has never done this and I have never seen a finished product. Does anyone have any pictures?
Does this go on past the Pack level with anyone?

Re: Pro Body Tool 3.0
I am familiar with Stan's tuning but have never tried it. The 5/8" COM scares me. This is a scout car. We need to keep it on the tracks. It might add speed but it also is taking weight off the dfw and I don't know what affect that might introduce. We have never won or lost by a few thousands of...

Re: Pro Body Tool 3.0
I'd like to explain my exact situation. I have a 2 lane Best track with MicroWizard timer. Our Pack has a 4 lane Best track which is used for Pack races and our District race. I never go below 3/4" on the COM. I want the steer wheel to stay on the rail from start to finish. I stand my scout beh...
