Re: Which Mothers?

I had read somewhere, I believe from one of the wheel/axle vendors that polishing beyond 8,000 grit was pointless in their testing. But they didn't post their testing protocol or their reasoning. Has anyone done any testing to determine what the sweet spot is for polishing and graphite lubrication? ...

Re: Allow Lightened wheels?

Seems that with a mandrel, a Dremel or drill, and a steady hand, anyone could achieve lighter wheels without high cost or technology? Am i over-simplifying this? I agree with the notion that anything requiring "high tech" or "high touch" changes the playing field. Keeping it fai...

Re: Hints for detecting lightened wheels?

Regarding outer hub step removal ... unless it is forbidden by your rules, I would not worry about detecting step removal. Its effect on angular inertia in negligible (as is most near-axis material removal). In fact, since the mass in the wheel does NOT participate in bore-axle friction, the increa...

Re: Hints for detecting lightened wheels?

Anyone lightening a wheel in a non-professional capacity will be obvious. I had a scout groove his wheels-looked like hamburger meat. As Speederster said there are 1.8 gm wheels where the outside rim looks full thickness but by putting a finger inside the wheel you can feel that material has been r...

NoSkills, You're a Genius! Well...ahhhhh....thanks. I think I figured this out before by accident. Noskills Yeah, I think I've discovered I want to change my name on the forum to avoid any confusion and not be mistaken for the person in question whom my handle seems to reference. :D

Re: tips for 56' Best Track race?

The guy supplying the track said its 56' Best Track with double stop section. Maybe that includes the double stop section. Why would the longer track be better with a less aggressive COM? Does the Best Track have a level lower section or is it still a slight incline? The stop sections on a BestTrac...

Re: tips for 56' Best Track race?

Generally, the longer the track, the more advantageous it becomes to shift your weight a little forward than on shorter tracks Why? I couldn't begin to tell you why. It's one of those random "facts" I read on the Internet over the years of researching PWD. I didn't bookmark it and can't t...
