Re: 2014 Season is approaching - Updated
The Mongoose has a Snake and other cars: We finished all of our cars for our pack's "Family Fun Race", which allows the Cubs to test and tune before the "Official" Race in February. My one son built a replica of Don "The Snake" Prudhomme's 1978 Plymouth Arrow to go with...

Re: 2014 Season is approaching
To be honest, most people made something that looked more like a real car. No one was really into the super high-performance. They just wanted to have fun. This is the way I try to teach the scouts in the build workshops, too.

Re: 2014 Season is approaching
Might we see pictures of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners if you happen to have them? I don't have good pictures, but I can do my best. 1st place was the red Ohio State Car in this pic: http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/dubldart340/pinewood/IMG_1635_zps21a14688.jpg 2nd was my own Surfer R...

Re: 2014 Season is approaching
Here are a few pics from the race at work. Like I said before, we had 24-25 people build cars and used loaners from me and others to make a 32 car field. It was cool to see adults have fun with what is usually considered a kids thing. http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/dubldart340/pinewood/525...

Re: 2014 Season is approaching
Where do you find mailing label material big enough for your logo? Do they sell it in sheets other than the standard pre-cut sizes for mailing labels? I bought both regular white and "invisible" label material in 8 1/2 x 11 at Staples. I use the white on dark colored vehicles, or where I ...

No, I made it with photoshop and mailing label material.
He may win, bu the mongoose is pretty fast. I came in forth place in the race at work and the loss was close.

2014 Season is approaching - Updated
Well, it is that time of year where I start lurking more here on the board. We had our pack build workshop this past weekend and have a family fun race coming up in December followed by the official pack race in February. My twins are Webelos now and are pretty much doing their own builds now. My on...

Not only that, I had to build a new shelf for their bedroom for all that they have won in the last year! They are very proud of their accomplishments though.Noskills wrote:Looks like they could each use a third arm

Re: Ready for this years Pack Race - District Results Added
Well, we went to Districts on Saturday for my son to represent the bear den and his pack. His twin brother also came and entered the open class. In addition, they entered the district and open classes for raingutter regatta. At the end of the day, my son's pack champ car had won the bear class and a...

Re: Ready for this years Pack Race - Race Results
Well, the race went well from an operation standpoint. Everyone seemed to have fun. From my boys' standpoint, they did pretty good. The green wedge won the bears den and his twin brother was runner-up. Unfortunately, with twins they both can't win because they are always in the same den. They both a...

Re: Ready for this years Pack Race
Yes, this year they both definitely had different ideas of what they wanted. Last years cars were both similar to the blue converitble, and did well at both pack and district, but were beat at both in later rounds by flatter cars, therefore my one son decided he wanted the wedge car this year so tha...

Re: Ready for this years Pack Race
Actually, it is a Dart. It is based off of my real life car. Here are a few shots from the build: http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/dubldart340/pinewood/IphonePics013.jpg http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/dubldart340/pinewood/IphonePics037.jpg http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o630/d...

Ready for this years Pack Race - District Results Added
Well, the boys and I have the cars ready for Saturday's race. In addition, we knocked a badge requirement of the list. One of their Bear requirements is to build a toolbox with common hand tools. Well, we have enough toolboxes around the house, including their own, so we decided to build carry cases...

Re: So, what does your username mean?
My wife and I each have a Dodge Dart, both with 340 cu in engines - plus we both have names that start with "D" and have twin boys, so the double thing was easy to come up with. The spelling stems from back in the days of AOL where you had to limit the number of characters, so we came up w...

Re: 2013 Pinewood Derby Cars
I thought I would tag onto this thread with pics of our family's cars for 2013. This is my first post, but I have been reading the board for over a year. Thanks to what I have learned here, my son's green wedge, which he built 90%+ on his own, won our packs family fun/test-n-tune race back in Novemb...
