Re: 2 part Automotive Urethane Clearcoat
I lay the paint on pretty thick, I thick it adds about .2 to .25 ounces. I haven't measured each stage. Someone else will have to chime in here.

Re: 2 part Automotive Urethane Clearcoat
We used Auto Air paint for an airbrush, it is automotive quality paint, but is water based. I was nervous about my kids spraying something stronger. Thanks for asking!

Re: 2 part Automotive Urethane Clearcoat
I am Jim, you might be thinking of David Jewkes, nicknamed the "Paint Ninja"--he is the best painter I have seen. My kids did all of the painting on the cars (we bought an airbrush and practiced on some scrap wood). The cars were not perfect, but they had fun and did a great job. The finis...

Re: 2 part Automotive Urethane Clearcoat
I have used it and it is amazing. One can did 7 cars of ours with 3 coats each, the last coat a pretty heavy coat. This stuff is seriously poisonous, so make sure you take the proper precautions for safety.

Re: Best bang for the buck tools
We go into weigh in a bit light, around 4.95 ounces with a little hole covered up by foil tape. Every scale is a little different, so we want to be safe. We bring up the difference with tungsten putty.
I agree with the others, last thing you want is sawdust in wheelbores.

Re: Best bang for the buck tools
Even if you have to use the slots, many people drill holes into the slots to guide the axle in. This may be acceptable for your rules and would be a huge speed advantage over using existing slots that may or may not be straight.

Re: Bostik Topcote on Axles?
Could be nice around the axle holes where the wheel would rub, especially if it is slick when buffed.

Re: Lubricant on wheel tread
Well, I got wheels and axles back from the coating; it was a tungsten disulfide coating from Dicronite that boasted a .03cf. The wheels were slow. it was like they were sticky, not slippery. The wheels sped up when I polished off the coating. The axles were about .003 seconds slower than when I spra...
