Re: Fenders-Are they legal?
By reading the rules by the verbiage, IMO, if you add attachments to the body of the car that would be legal. Whether or not your goes anywhere is another story.

Re: Fenders-Are they legal?
I think you're missing the point. The 3/8" rule was made so the belly of the car doesnt drag on the center rail. Plain and simple. No parts of the fenders touch the track. I would love to have someone try to disqualify a car for having fenders b/c of the 3/8" rule. Official BSA PWD Rules ...

Re: Fenders-Are they legal?
The interpretation of the rule is ridiculous. Fenders are not the "body" of the car. They are an add on to make the wheels more aerodynamic. So are decorations and ballast also "an add on" that shouldn't be considered part of the "body" of the car? Should decorations a...

Or don't make technical opened ended rules for that leave room for interpretation.

Re: Fenders-Are they legal?
The interpretation of the rule is ridiculous. Fenders are not the "body" of the car. They are an add on to make the wheels more aerodynamic. the 3/8" is so the "body" of the car doesnt rub the center guide rail. To say that a fender violates this rule is sad because people d...

I'm with lightinboy. It's easier to see the bores inside yellow and orange wheels. Especially if youre doing graphite prep and burnishing.

Re: opinions on fenders good or bad
So basically to answer the initial question, yes fenders do make you faster. Not full fenders btw. There's been different tests done and you'll see different times, mostly in the 0.00X which doesn't seem like much. It depends on if you're racing in the NPWDRL, which you win and lose by 0.000X or if ...

Re: Drilling canted axle holes with pro body tool
GoatBoy is still making them. He just got more material in last week and is making more as we speak. The one thing I can think of when trying to find anything by that guy PWD related is: "Man, he doesn't seem to want to sell anything." I'm glad he's making them still, but where the heck d...

Re: "legal" wheel for Mid America open Scout race
You guys have touched on the reason I'm hesitating to send cars into Mid America: to be competitive you must have lightened wheels. Looking around, these wheels are $40 - $50!! For the adult cars I guess that's ok, but its silly for scout cars IMO. Not sure I understand why they're ok for an adult ...

Re: "legal" wheel for Mid America open Scout race
To answer your question. The gentleman and son that won last year were using the lighter wheels. Fortuneatly for you, he's not going to be entering this year as he does not have a scout. BUT that being said lets put this into perspective. I will be using the 1g wheels on my sons cars. He worked to h...

Re: "legal" wheel for Mid America open Scout race
you can actually get wheels that are 1g that are still legal. The wheels must contain the decorative bumps, lettering on the inside and outside. Just watch, because they lighter the wheel, the more flimbsy the edge becomes if you're RRing.
