Re: Community Derby Race

How did this work out? Would love to hear how it went as we have considered doing the same.

Interesting Race-Girl Scouts-Longish story. Laser Gate Issues?

My daughters local girl scout service area staged a race for them this weekend. It was for our entire area, not just her troop so the turnout was large. About 80 cars in four age groups from K thru 12th grade. She was excited to be racing in the main event, and not just against a few other siblings ...

Re: Maximum Velocity kits

I have been the race coordinator for my pack the past two years. This year my daughter's girl scout group is having a race. She is excited, and I am as well to just "show up and spectate" for once! Anyway the rules state "must use supplied kit form Maximum Velocity". Interesting....

Re: Community Derby Race

I think this is a great idea. We just purchased a new track last year, and it is a shame we only use the investment one day a year. I would love to hear how this pans out if you try it

Re: 2017 Line Up

Another track tech pointed it out to the Cubmaster and he denied that the front wheels had been moved forward. I showed it to him, in comparison to another car and he said he did not know it was an issue. I pointed it out in the rules, but admitted that I missed it at check in initially (my bad). He...

2017 Line Up

Our race season has come and gone. With another year of no district race in our district, it comes and goes quick. Once again I was in charge of check in, software, and track setup. This is the second year with our new track, and things went pretty well. We had some issues with repeat offenders on w...

Re: Scouting Magazine-Jan.-Feb. 2017

I have not attended either, but this looks interesting. Our local Scout Shop is having tool demo, AND setting up a track for the whole month of January for testing. I plan to stop by with my son and check it out. I hope it is a decent modern track with a timer:) http://www.scoutstuff.org/retail/spec...

2017 Wheels

We received our kits for this season. I opened three kits and checked runout and all of the wheels seemed pretty good. Across 12 wheels with different mold numbers I am seeing an average of .002" runout. This is a huge improvement from the 40 wheels I checked last year. Then I weighed them, and...

Cheap polishing supplies...

I recently picked up these items from Banggood. Shipping is free but takes a few weeks. I have not used the items yet, but they appear to be really nice. Curious if anyone else has tried them. At any rate these would really be the ticket for doing a workshop for a pack on a budget... Polish set of 5...

Re: Time to assemble a 4 Lane Best track

The first time is where all the work is. The key to "how many" people is not many for the first assembly. Few people really know how to assemble things correctly these days. Even fewer want to take the time to do it right. I spent the better part of two weekends assembling mine by myself a...

Re: Buying some power tools, scroll saw, drill press, etc.

Craigslist. Do some searching, you can find plenty of top notch name brand tools made in USA cheaper than new imported tools. This is especially true for band saws and drill presses. IN fact, buying vintage tools and restoring them to new is a hobby in itself. Check out OWWM.com I got a PS Wood 21&q...

Is it just me, the camera angle, or does the middle car in question appear to have a large degree of toe out in it?

Re: 2016 line up

Thanks for all the kind words and all the tips. Wheel bore prep this year gained us more speed, and the kids learned to measure Q-tips with calipers, I always make the kids come by to personally check in the cars the night before even though I was there for three hours doing set up. My favorite part...
