Re: Want to help..

Oops, looks like these are all closed.

You should check to see if you have a local maker space that has 3d printing. All the benefits of owning one without the cost of actually owning one.

Re: "Float" test -- Thoughts please!

I like Stan's idea, and I will propose a method very similar to his. If your tuning board is level. By increments of 1 degree maybe a half... you raise one side of your tuning board. This could be done with "leg levelers" like this http://www.billbentgen.com/railroad/images/leg_leveler.jpg...

Re: Team Patrick 2015 Fleet

The ambigram design was my daughter's idea. Inspired by a guitar strap I made for one of my sons. Both cars were laser cut, the ambigram was laser etched into the wood. The canopy was indeed to cover weight. I bought a tungsten disc that was a little taller than advertised. Thanks for the kind words...

Awana Tune-up Message

I wrote this lesson a few years ago when I was asked to speak at a tune-up. Feel free to use this message as you see fit. It is a little long. But the message went surprising fast. Awana Grand Prix Tune-Up 1. Introduction: Name, Occupation, and Background 2. I love cars (Audi S4, BMW M3 are probably...

Gospel Material

Sure seems like there is a gospel message revolving around the use of blocks in this video. (1:20 mark) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RjJtO51ykY Maybe something to do with Lamentations 3:22-24 22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new eve...

http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/w367/dpatrick911/IMG_20150323_124655_zpsng3jbuiu.jpg Lol, my kids asked who's cars those were. Have you been sneaking into our house to take your pictures? Black stool and all. I thought that was funny. They looked at the picture and looked at the kitchen counter...

Re: Devising a test to catch instability

I understand the reasoning for wanting the "entire" track to move. I wonder for this test if allowing the CM to move isn't complicating things. See the attached link. Actually it is a fascinating video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY3LYQv22qY If the test cycle we are talking about is a...

Re: Devising a test to catch instability

My initial thought was a bar of teflon used as the center rail. Cutting down on wheel wear, of the DFW. Reasonable? Next was a pin sticking up thru the center rail. This pin would be fixed at the COM of your car or as close as your calculations can predict. You can adjust it from that starting point...

Re: Devising a test to catch instability

Any ideas good or bad regarding using a treadmill? If you could suspend the car or hold the car at the COM you might be able to see what the car is doing at speed. My idea seems a little suspect. But it might give you some data.
