Re: How are the wheels this year ?
Sporty, I worked in injection molding more or less for a time at my first 2 jobs (we designed the parts, I spent quite a bit of time in the mold facilities). I don't know the processes as you do, thanks for taking the time to share! Great stuff! And, bet you would know what gas assist injection mold...

Re: Has anyone heard of this lube?
I would not hazard a position regarding "liquid: yes or no" with this material without some first hand experience with it. I may offer the following thoughts: Here's a decent definition of a liquid-> "The state of matter in which a substance exhibits a characteristic readiness to flow...

Re: Has anyone heard of this lube?
Was there ever a concensus as to whether this lube actually completely dries?

Re: A DERBY TALK CHRISTMAS POEM!
Twas the night before the derby and all through the house Son and Dad were stirring, much noisier than a mouse The car was not quite ready the wheels did not spin just right but it was getting late and it was time to bed for the night Daddy tucked in his baby and walked away to bed when upon the roo...

Re: Turning Wheels on a Mini Lathe.
Nice job Stan! We never got better than .0005". On a tour just last week of a manufacturing facility, the gent leading the tour said all the tooling for the really tight jobs... they get setup, and leave alone. I knew why thanks to machining wheels :) I left a mandrel chucked once for over a ye...

Re: Graphite pads via water?
We as newcomers in 2005 won our Pack, so we too were given under the table jabs in the weeks that followed. I responded by sharing, sharing and more sharing... workshops too... and we didn't win by an unbelievable margin, and came in 15th at District that year. Once I became known as the guy to go t...

Re: Graphite pads via water?
Just curious though since those of you with judgemental approaches to this can't find a solution... I only wanted a solution, not criticism... I truly wasn't trying to criticize you. I think you and other officials were placed in a no win situation with the rules that you were given to enforce. My ...

Re: Graphite pads via water?
I'm curious to what is considered "breakaway" speed in the standings ? Lucky 13 Read Jobe for more accurate numbers, or dig here ... you should get the same number... typically, 0.01 s is enough ... you'll see it as a "step function" in the finish times... remember, at the top o...

Re: Graphite pads via water?
I'm still waiting for someone to tell me how to enforce the situation more fairly since in their eyes we screwed up, and I don't see it yet... I guess you think there is a more fair way to enforce an unenforceable rule. I really don't. Officials had their hands tied and tried to enforce the best th...

read what I wrote, get out pen and paper if necessary before posting again... water had little to do with it.

Re: Graphite pads via water?
Working with 2nd hand info has created some confusion, let me try to provide a summary: Council race the past 2 years had breakaway cars and the time delta corresponded very well to the delta documented by Jobe and others as the difference in liquid vs dry lube. This was the impetus last spring for ...

... the head judge told me there was clear admittance of using water.
Frank, did one of the other dads admit to using it?
(I was told 2 of 3 dads admitted to it)
If that is in error my apologies...
