Re: ANYONE ELSE INTO ROYAL AMBASSADOR DERBY CARS???

Wish we had GA races in Georgia. At the church and association levels, we started them this year. But at region and state, there is no GA division. However, girls compete in Open division. I would love to swap Open division (outlaw division) for a true GA division. Our church girls love the derby!

Re: Has anyone recently hosted Scout Reunion classic car der

By the way, is a classic old pinewood derby car still a classic if it is repaired, repainted, and the wheels realigned? No changing of the original design of the the car, but a refurbishing of it. or should I not touch it at all.... Being a fan of real classic automobiles, I feel that as long as I d...

Has anyone recently hosted Scout Reunion classic car derby?

 I am interested in trying a fundraiser with our Scouting Committee of Jones County, to help raise funds for our Scout building. I am interested in contacting former Scouters (from any pack or troop) who now live in our area, and hosting a dinner, and for fun, a classic pinewood derby race, u...

Re: ANYONE ELSE INTO ROYAL AMBASSADOR DERBY CARS???

In NC we order kits from RoyalRacers in Sparta, TN since the state rules direct you to use them. I think on their order form the RA wheels are called 1/4 inch tapered wheels - which is a pretty good description. Otherwise the kits are nearly identical to BSA kits in appearance. I would agree with F...

Re: Judging Design Awards

My boy is in both Royal Ambassadors and Cub Scouts in Georgia. The RA derby has completely different car kits and design rules (and racing rules for that matter) than the Scout rules. We would love to build just one car and race it in both competitions (RAs and Scouts) but that is not possible. For ...

Anyone selling vintage pinewood derby kits?? HELP PLEASE!

I am searching for a couple of older, unused BSA pinewood derby car kits from the years 1974 and earlier. Years ago, when my mother rescued me and my brother from my alcoholic, violently abusive father, we had to leave everything behind. I had a very fast car my first year in Cubs. It was a red car ...

Re: New Graphite Comparisons

I have tried straight molbdenum and had poor results. You have to use rubber gloves when putting it on the car/axles. It can be dangerous by itself. Don't breathe it, either! But the car actually gets slower as the races progress. Not sure why.

Re: ANYONE ELSE INTO ROYAL AMBASSADOR DERBY CARS???

By the way, anyone know where UI can visit on this site or on the web to get an education about "rail riders" derby cars? I am intrigued, but a little confused. What does a rail rider car look like (top and bottom). How many wheels does it run on? Where is the wheelbase set? Where is the w...

Re: ANYONE ELSE INTO ROYAL AMBASSADOR DERBY CARS???

I have heard it said at our Georgia state derby that there is talk of hosting a national RA Racer derby in 2008, our 100th anniversary. But I am not sure that would work. For one thing, getting all the folks there to the national site...and where would that be exactly? Also, what rules would we foll...

Re: ANYONE ELSE INTO ROYAL AMBASSADOR DERBY CARS???

Tell me something. What year did the North Carolina RA Racer derby Day patch come out? Is it the same one every year? Also, if you are interested in trading for some Georgia RA patches for North Carolina patches (and that goes for anyone from other states reading this) contact me at wmbeaver@hotmail...

Re: When to do the Gospel message?

We have found some wonderful racing tracts from American tract society that use the colored flags of a real racetrack to simulate the colors on the armbands and the "wordless book" to present the gospel message. So, we just use the beginning to say our pledges, our prayer, and read through...

Re: Race Drama, Accusations Fly...

I's a crying shame when ingenuity and creativity...within the rules....is seen as "cheating." Be careful when trying something never seen before. Build the car with the rules on the table at all times. And bring the rules to the race on race day. Bottom line is that some are better than ot...

Re: ANYONE ELSE INTO ROYAL AMBASSADOR DERBY CARS???

Razors they are. We are allowed to "mix and match" wheels from different kits, but only in the Craftsmanship competition. This car would be illegal in a race. Does SC have church, association, region, and state levels? Georgia has 8 regions and so by the time we get to state, most of the c...

Re: Nationals?????

The Georgia Royal Ambassadors have an extensive derby set-up! There are actually four levels of competition. The church level, the association (or multi-county level), the region level (8 large regions in Georgia), and the State finals. Four weekends of derbies! And the rules are the same (or suposs...
