Re: Track malfunction
It would have made sense to have the last race prior to the track repair rerun and compare the times to the times prior to the repair to prove that the repair did not affect timings. And if there was a significant change, then start over. But the organizers of this event were apparently relative no...

Track malfunction
Just curious on how you guys would have handled this? Council race last year was ran on a 4-lane aluminum track with what appeared to be a Champ Timer. The race format was scout ran each lane once consecutively. (Lane 1 then lane 2 then lane 3 then lane 4 back-to-back). The times were averaged and t...

Thanks to all the guys on the board!!! Pack race was a 6-lane 49' wooden/laminated track. 44' Start to Finish. Our car was : Extende...

Re: DFW...I need explanation
Thanks Noskills.
I have another question...
Per our rules... No canting.
So I am building car with extended wb. How light Can I go on DFW?
I am thinking around .75-.80 oz is about aggressive as I can go since I cannot cant rears.
Thoughts?

DFW...I need explanation
I want to make sure I understand everything I have read on DFW. Most popular suggestions: Drill hole straight. Bend axle Positive cant Toe in Set drift to 3"-4" over 4ft With negative cant the the car is riding on the outer tread...correct? That means the wheel is going to migrate in towar...

Rear axle cant
Per local rules---cannot cant any axles. So what can I do to make sure wheels stay "out", especially on rear? I mean years ago, during the alignment process---I always ended up with a shim or two on bottom of rear holes to make sure wheels stayed out to head. Looking at those cars now, I s...

Rear fenders only
I noticed a lot of pics of cars posted on this site of cars with extended wheelbases and rear fenders only.. Are the rear only fenders found to be beneficial? I am helping my nephew build a car for his pack race. I have been out of building for a few years, since finishing runner-up to Warpspeed in ...

Re: Help me to understand
Nope! Thankfully, those tracks are but legends in these parts! I think that I saw one in storage somewhere about 15 years ago, though I don't know what their sales are like, but I have yet to see one of these tracks, even while surfing the web looking at race photos. My nephew's pack is racing on o...

COM for a drag race?
My nephew is racing on a track that is a slope from start to finish. No drop and flat to the finish. It is a drag race on an incline. Where do we want to weight the car? In the past at his pack races on a regular track, my nephew's car would seem to be trailing at the transition but always pass on t...

Weight help???
I am helping my nephew build his car this year again. We have the district race in 2 weeks. He won pack race 2 weeks ago. :D His slowest time was .023 seconds faster than 2nd place's fastest time before a car jumped lanes and wrecked his car. The wreck knocked dominant wheel and axle off car. Pack l...

COM??? Weight placement
Going to district---found out track is 40+' Freedom wood 6 lane track. Bare car with wheels and axles, weighs 1.4 oz. The car is a slim wedge design, lwb-rear axle 5/8" from rear of car and front axle is 3/4" from nose, under body of car hollowed out, car is 3/16" tall at nose graduat...

Re: Weighting for an "S" Track?
Stan, all we were told by the scouts mom is that it is an "S". I have until lunch to weight this car however you think. The mom is coming to get it at noon. They will be painting the car tonight at scouts. I have to go with my son tonight so I can't go with this kid. Give me your best reco...

Weighting for an "S" Track?
A friend is racing on an "S" track. Where should we try to place out weights? What COG should we strive for? How much weight on the front end?
Thanks in advance.

Weight placement
I just found out that the track we are using this year at Pack is a hand made track---40' end to end. @35' gate to gate, incline from start to finish, not traditional fall and straightaway. Where do I need to weight the car? Where should the balance point be?
Thanks
Chris
