Re: Space Derby Autowinder Sources needed
We ended up using the following: More Flying + less winding = more fun! An efficient labor-saver for all our "Just-for-Fun" models. Electric Winder operates on 2 AA batteries. Resettable counter lets you count winds, so you know exactly when to stop winding. Ideal for Ready-to-Fly kits, Bu...

PVC Gutter Experience needed
We are having our first raingutter this year and I would like to get some feedback from the Derby Talk world on how to best set these up to minimize problems. I have seen pictures of these set up on tables. Also I have seen them with a wood structure on the bottom and sides along the entire length o...

Re: Fins & Hanger
I can speak from personal experience that I think fins are definitely needed if you end up building a very thin (walled) lightweight rocket. We sanded down both the interior and exterior of the rocket and it ended up being slightly more than 1/8 th inch thick all around. To keep the weight down, we ...

Race Management Software
I am in the process of looking into buying a race management software package for our pack. We already have a 4 lane wooden Piantedosi track with a Micro Wizard Fast Track timer finish lane that displays the actual elapsed time. I am looking at Grand Prix Race manager, Derby master, and Race View. A...

Wind Power - Younger Scouts vs. Older Scouts
Has anyone figured out a way to help "equalize" the advantage(more lung capacity) the older scouts have when they are in the race for the pack championship ? Maybe use straws ?? In our past regattas, the den races have been fine, but when it somes to the Pack championship, the older kids a...

Re: Debth of axle slots
From what I have read and been told, the deeper the axle slot the better. This will "lower" the whole car especially the center of gravity or center of mass. Just be sure not to lower it too much, it still needs to clear the center track guide. I think the min clearence standard rule is 3/...

Re: Weight placement - from the top or from below ??
Terry,
Thanks for the help. Please expand on what you mean by "get the weight as far below the axle center-line plane as possible" ?
Thanks
