Re: Car Plans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BSA now has a book out full of designs, I have not purchased it or seen inside of it, but here is a link from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Pinewood-Derby-Designs-Patterns-Thorne/dp/0756632625/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1195068004&sr=1-1 The gentleman who wrote this book, Troy Thorn...

Re: Opportunity to provide Pinewood Derby to troops in Iraq
Greetings from Central Florida - GoBubbaGo asked me to post after our committee meeting. Just wanted to let you guys know that the Scouts and parents of Pack 241 of Deltona, Florida want our troops and the children in Iraq to have a Super-Good Pinewood Derby. We will be donating $250 toward the succ...

Re: Thank you all! Everlasting First Time Experience!
When we arrived the informed us the Father/Son derby was just for fun and they let my son enter both cars. But before check in another little guy we came with dropped his car and lost the axle. I offered him one from our 2nd car, but they found the axle. Thats what it's all about! Having fun and he...

WOW! I thought I was the only one who used names like that for the Dremel bits....festiva91 wrote:A dremel tool with the reddish stone pointy bit cuts to the axle tips pretty easily.

Thanks Bubba, keep us informed as to when we can help support. I got some funds from my Pack and I will ask at my Church's Mens group also.

Re: Friday night test and tune...
Not only did I convince the other leaders to have the test & tune, we are also having 2 workshops in March for the boys !! All the boys should have the right to have some derby fun and this should help those out that may not be able to get the help they need. Take Care, Lucky 13 Outstanding!! :...

Re: Church to borrow the Pack track for derby race
We are going to do this for the first time this year. We are helping a Pack that is just starting out. One or more "approved / knowledgeable" people present, esp. for assembly / disassembly. Expected behavioral rules for participants (i.e. no kids jumping back and forth across track, etc.)...

Bill's latest Patch Tuesday and GPRM
Randy, Any word on problems/issues with Bill's latest patches for XP Pro SP2 from this last Patch Tuesday (2/13/2007)? I know my company has had some issues with different programs and the patches. We had to roll back some machines to pre-patch. Just wondering, it seems this latest round is not play...

Re: Coriolis effect?
Has anyone measured or computed the Coriolis effect on a PWD car's path? Would it be enough to affect one's decision on which wheel to lift? Would the orientation of the track be a factor? Read this one as the first thing after waking up. All I have to say is:  and  Thank you Stan

Re: District race open to the first 100 boys that sign up?
Why change what you have done in the past? Seems like a fair way to do it. Unless you can open the race to more racers it does not seem to make sense to change. Absolutely agree. We invite all boys to the District race. The original idea really seems to be going backwards. The point is to make the ...

Judging from his reaction he was both surprised and honored to receive the car. I know I would be honored if I recieved that kind of memory. You did a great thing, something that will last the rest of his life, I'm sure. Might even be something his grandkids will see and want to get involved with S...

Re: How to trick out a track?
PWD, Does the foam dampening help with more consistent times? I understand why you put it there, but does it have any benefit? We did this also with felt pads. We just ordered the upgrade from 3ln to 4ln and Steve is now including a foam pad on the start gate. I don't know if it helped with more co...

Re: GPRM rocks!
Yes we have a four lane. Last year we did 18 races per boy with 27 boys on a 3 lane track. 162 heats. We did it in well under 3 hours. We had a 45 second turnaround time (pin drop to pin drop). It keeps the boys moving. Even with a 1 minute turnaround your looking at just 3 hours for 30 boys (180 he...

Re: How to tell if you have a "Slow" Lane
I would be more curious to see the differences from one lane to another for a single car. Or the average difference for say the top 10 cars. I would be curious about a single car stats also. Taking the top 10 car averages, while impressive, really just tells us that their average times were close. ...
