Re: What do you think of a pretty car?

The green car won first place in Webelos, while the red car won third in Wolf:

I thought that they looked pretty good.

Re: So, what does your username mean?

Nikola Tesla, the greatest inventive genious of our time. I work with high-voltage system as they apply to high-power microwave transmitters. As a hobby, I am building a Tesla Coil in my basement to teach my sons the joys of high voltage. I work in one of the only fields where if you screw up, you d...

Re: Are my son's cars illegal?

p.s. You should consider posting in the So, what does your username mean? post. Nikola is one of the "Rodney Dangerfield"s of history i.e. "I tell ya, I get No respect, no respect I tell ya". Most of my contemporaries hear the name Tesla and think of the 80s rock band :( Nikola ...

Re: Are my son's cars illegal?

Were the attempts to have it DQed after or before the race? If before why so much effort? Curious. After the race. The more I think about it the angrier I get. No consideration for taking "the moment" of pride and celebration away from my boy. Why so much effort?, I guess he was disgruntl...

Re: Are my son's cars illegal?

Thanks for the response. I do not think that the people interpreting the rules at this past Sunday's race will be involved at the District level. Your thoughts are much the same as mine. If it is a judgement call on a rule interpretations, particularly since I think that the interpretation is incorr...

Are my son's cars illegal?

Hello everyone, Our Pinewood Derby was this past Sunday. The red car below is my Wolf Scout boy's and the green car is my Weblos'. The red car took third in it's category while the green car took first place. There were some disgruntled dads (one in particular) there that complained that the car was...

Re: Here's a funny one

That is the problem. When they make a mistake they won't even say I'm sorry. My son was cheated out of first place last year because of timing issues. His car was clearly the fastest on the track and everyone knew it. This was one of those deals where the official started the race with one hand and...

Re: Geez Louise...PWD rules...I just have to vent!

Update: I didn't get medieval on their butts. I waited a few hours and drafted up a polite letter (email) outlining my grievance and sent it to the committee. On Saturday (the day before the race) I got a call saying that the committee was unaware that the rules that they had sent out on Friday were...

Geez Louise...PWD rules...I just have to vent!...*Update*

Weeks ago, I asked one of our coordinators for the PWD rules. They did not provide these when we got the kits before Christmas. I had to ask for this last year and got a response based on the rules the year before. Well, I found the old rules and emailed the coordinator back to disregard the request...

New member - axle question

Sorry if this has been covered repeatedly. I have done some searches and have not discovered my particular situation. Before touching the blocks, I decided to drill my axle holes independently of the slots (this is allowed in our rules). I maintained the front to back distances and the distance betw...
