Re: PWD on Bill Engvall Show
OK, the program will air in early July. Our Bear Den was able to attend the filming and had a great time. The crew really rolled out the red carpet for our Bear Den and the boys had a lot of fun seeing how a Sitcom is filmed. Bill and the cast Were fantastic hosts and I can't say enough good about t...

PWD on Bill Engvall Show
Heads up PWD watchers. The Bill Engvall Show contacted our Pack to rent / use our new 6 lane aluminum track and timer for a taping this week. 8) A few of our boys and a couple of lucky adults are providing ten cars for the show to use as well. We made sure the boys understood that the cars could com...

Re: Reputation on the line!
A couple of more thoughts if I can chime in late. I once raced a 14 oz fire truck against a mini van made from a three pound hammer head. The hammer head and fire truck ran neck and neck until the axles bent on the van. Further racing caused the van wheels to fail at the hubs. In looking at your rul...

Timer Gate Attachment to Al tracks
Hello, I am planning on purchasing a new aluminum track for our pack and need a few more details on how the timing gates work with the BestTrack and Piantedosi track. From what I am familiar with we have used a Wizard timer on a wooden side guided track and the Wizard timer has a cross bar that goes...

Re: Buying New Track Any Mods Required For Running Trucks?
Thanks for all the information guys! I am working on getting a fund raiser race set up for our district. The trucks provide lots of surface area for logos and advertisement. Big Rigs opposed to cars also provides for some separation between the Men's and Boy's events. I will see what options we have...

Re: Buying New Track Any Mods Required For Running Trucks?
Any issues with the length of the staging area for either the freedom or best tracks?
What is minimum length of the staging area (from the starting pin to the end of the track) required for a big rig?
Thanks

Buying New Track Any Mods Required For Running Trucks?
Hello, Just wanted to see if any of you have information on what track modifications may be needed to run the big rig trucks on the Freedom or Best tracks..... What timing gates work best for the big rigs? Any clearance issues? I would like to try introducing the pack adults to truck racing this yea...

Re: Band saw vs. Scroll saw
For our workshops the band saw is strictly for parents, make that supervised parents using jigs and fixtures to hold the block of wood safely. Can't go wrong with a fine tooth blade in a variable speed jig saw/ fret saw that is bench mounted in my opinion. I have not been able to cut my thumb with i...

Re: How do your wheels sound?
OK, Time for a sound check. When selecting my wheels for balance and speed I use a discarded section of a PWD block I have drilled an axle hole in. I take my candidate wheels one at a time and install them to spin. I listen to the spin sound and time the spin down time several times for an average. ...

Re: CG data and questions
OK, the update post race. Son won Den first place, advanced to Grand Championship round and placed first in all but one race. Took First place overall. Car ran with conventional wheel installation. track was rougher than I remembered but we set the car up to rail ride outside and had 1" in 36&q...

Re: Pinehead Slogans
Just an option. How about a T with several or most of the slogans scattered over the shirt. Too many good ones to select only one or two. Also the shirt needs flames and graphite flecks..... Or you might be a Pine Head if..... You use your wifes hair dryer to dry the paint on your son's car. ...

Re: First PWD is behind us
That is always hard on the little guys. We have only 4 tigers racing this weekend and that is why we will run a couple of snail cars. Cars set up to not cross the finish line eliminating last place for the others. We typically only do this for the Tigers as all the boys get the chance to attend mult...

Re: Hardened Wheels?
I don't know if this applies but in machining wheels for this year's race I tried a set from last year and the wheels were harder. I do belive that styrene can cure / harden over time as the plastic ages. Just an observation that the new wheels out of this years box were soft and flexible while whee...

Re: CG data and questions
Thanks for the follow up. I had already concluded that single front wheel was all that was required if inverse rail riding is set up correctly. This will be fun to see if both my children are willing to do something unorthodox not to mention the hoots and howls at impound.
