Re: Dirty Derby

If you were to replace your "side-pods" with lead ingots, you could get 12lbs easy! 8)

Re: No weight limits...how much weight is too much?

here is a quote from another thread. I think you could easily adapt it to a stock BSA kit. The axles held up to the 1.7 pound weight great! http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f281/scoutfrog/100_1560.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f281/scoutfrog/100_1546.jpg above are 2 pictures of before and a...

Re: Problems with car on stop section

O.K. , Here is my .02 worth. I've got some 1/16 X 2in (?) balsa plywood. It looks like it would be perfect to cover the whole (or hole as it were  ) bottom of the car. Just a thought, I got 3 feet of it at Hobby Lobby for $1.47.

Re: 2010 Grand Prix Cars - Family and more.

My guess is it's not that "unfinished". Look at the top, you can see it's a seperate piece glued on. I would say, " hollow balsa block and a whole bunch of weight hidden inside." :shhh:

Re: Austin Hatcher Foundation Charity Pinewood Derby Races

Re: What is your “real job”?

Just read this thread and thought I would post my answer(s). Day job: Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Night jobs: I make wooden walking/hiking sticks and the odd cub scout wooden project(birdhouse, step stool, book shelf...) I also am a pitcrew-for-hire for some local scout groups.(I don...

Re: Derby Magic Track

I had time today to talk to one of the the people setting up the racing with the track. He said they have used it several times and it is holding up well. I'll try to actually get a look at it as soon as I can.

Re: Derby Magic Track

A local charity is running a series of races and I'm told they will be run on a Derby Magic track. There will be 7 races in 7 cities over 7 days, so we will see how it hol...

Re: Girl Scout race coming.. Our box has old wheels???

Many years back, My dad and I had a little trouble trying to find an "identical" part for a car we were woking on. The car belonged to a friend of his and my dad was working on it for him. When we went to replace the water pump with a new one, it did not fit. we returned it and explained i...

Re: Rules....

On your other post I posted a pic of my "illegal" open cars. If you read my post from Feb 5 2006, it explains the building of them based on using "the rules in the box". I had been asking for printed rules for 3 years and was told "..rules in the box". Basicly, the idea...

Re: What would you guy have done?

Yes, it does tend to happen at some derbys. But it has yet to happen at any of the pack or dist. derbies (I usually hit about 2-3 packs and 1 dist each year)that I have been to. At most of them, the same track/track operator are there. We(I run the weight part of check-in) have orange barrels with r...

I edited my first post to include a photo. It is cut from a official BSA block with nothing added.
