Re: GPRM Question

After the derby today (which went horribly wrong with our charts we made... Can you elaborate? You were importing some custom charts? We just made our own charts on paper and obviously we messed them up somewhere....BUT... the kids all had a great time (which is the most important thing) and there ...

So in V8 you can change the numbers as long as there are no duplicates?

GPRM Question

Our Pinewood Derby was today and we had a problem with the software. I was wondering if anyone could help..... I used the same software last year and had no problem but today.... All of the kids came in and passed inspection and their cars were put on the display stand. After all kids passed we call...

Re: In need of sample donation request letters...

I found out that nothing beats a good face to face when asking for donations. I went to 6 places (that I do business with regularly) and got 6 donations. At the race I had the kids all sign a thank-you letter I had prepared. I made high quality color copies of it and put them in a picture frame. I a...

Re: Seating in a public venue

This statement has been bugging me since I read it earlier today. My bad. What I said about the shape was wrong. This year we enlarged the perimeter and made it technically an oval, not by just changing the shape, but also adding about a 100ft more checkered pennant banner. The truth is just exactl...

Re: Seating in a public venue

When we set up our track at the mall, we roped it off to make a big circle, everything for the race was inside the circle, ie: registration tables, computer, track, trophies, etc..... If you make it a circle instead of a rectangle you have a much larger perimeter for people to stand around and watch...

Re: Seating in a public venue

Regarding budget. Hold onto your hat ... there is a budget of $100 for this event per the district. I informed the district executive that this needs to change for next year. They spend this $100 on participant patches. The trophies, track, venue, etc, etc must be donated. I have a commitment this ...

Is it a small square blue patch that the kids received for attending the dremel demonstration?

Re: Another Season Come and Gone....

That's a pretty accurate description.... I still never figured out their 'twist' though. Another thing they did was run only 2 out the 3 lanes the track had. They raced lanes 1 and 3. Lane 1 was without a doubt the hot lane. They raced two cars at a time, one in lane 1 and 1 in lane 3.... then they ...

Another Season Come and Gone....

Well another season has come and gone here in Western KY  . At District, my kids took 2nd in Webelos II, 4 Overall and 3rd in Bears, 5th Overall. We had 130 kids at district this year, a new record. My oldest sons single run track record (from his 2007 car) was broken by the second place Overal...

Re: How do you lube with graphite, especially in drilled hol

I don't know if anybody will agree with this, but my kids use a small paint brush (from one of their art set) and push the graphite down in. They squeeze some onto the head of the axle and then start pushing it in. Then they turn the car over and on the back side (closest to the body), they dip the ...

Re: Best Easy To Find Weight

Just go down to the local tire store and you can probably find them strewn about the parking lot. I picked up quite a few one time at a Discount Tire store. One of the local wheel and tire places sponsored a set of trophies for us this year. They also let me buy tire weights from them. They are alr...

Re: Grand Prix Software - initial use

Personally, I recommend the Perfect-N type charts. With Lane Rotation, racers race against mostly the same racers over and over. That is rather boring and gets discouraging for the ones always getting beat. Perfect-N type charts give each racer a variety of opponents, so a racer stands a better cha...

Re: Verification of Cars in Correct Lanes

Our Lanes are marked with a number (Easy to see) at the top and bottom of the track. I call out the cars for the stager while the kids are at the end of the track. " Lane 1, car 64 " and as another verification for the kids I use the name of their car and the childs name. " Purple Pin...
