Re: Timer intermittent
A possible cause of the symptoms described is that the modular cable connector might have a bad contact. We have two identical tracks and timers setups. I swapped everything I could; timers, cables, Com port adapters, except the magnetic switch as it was hard mounted. I was able to get back to the ...

Re: Cubmobile Timing
Since you already confess that electronics is NOT your strong side, I think the prefabed is then, the other option.
Having made that assumption, I would just peruse the timer’s websites, taking notes and decide what you want in a system. Then you can start nailing down a price.

Re: Question about GPRM 'New round'
... I would recommend that you run a second round. I think I've got it straight in my head, what to run, and how to determine when to run. I really wasn't prepared this year. I focused too much on the Judge and getting the software to communicate with it. I didn't take the time to go over the softw...

Re: Question about GPRM 'New round'
But how big are your race groups? Do you race everyone together or in different groups? This is a church function with Royal Ambassadors. We have two groups: Lads (1st-3rd grade) and Crusaders( 4th-6th grade). We race each grade and pick the top three. Then we race the top one from each grade in th...

Re: Question about GPRM 'New round'
Also, you don't have to run more than one round. It is advisable if you are running medium to large race groups... We had about 80 cars total this year. Only about 60% show for the race. We started about 7pm; finished around 8:30. Some run different types of charts for a second round.... Wow! That'...

Question about GPRM 'New round'
I'm having trouble understanding the advancing rounds using GPRM. #1 - I chose to allow GPRM to select the top three racers to advance to the next round in the software setup. However, in a recent race, in one group there was no tie between the top three, yet it advanced all three. Should there been...

Re: Dilemma
You could setup an unlimited category.
Explain to the child/parent the disqualification, but explain it will be entered and raced in an different category.
I wouldn't offer any trophy for this category.
If there are only one or two cars, have some dummy cars for them to race against.

Re: Timer intermittent
You can use a multimeter to test the continuity of the switch. Ok Great, I'll check it out. Also, which version of GPRM are you running? I found out on race day that 5.0 was out. So I purchased upgrade and ran the race with it. Lastly, make sure and review this thread I had read similar threads ear...

Re: Timer intermittent
I did check the switch. It hasn't moved since installation. There's about a dimes width between them. I even pulled the leads from the board and reinserted them. No change.
How can I test the switch?

Re: Great Goofs
One year my son applied so many coats of paint, I didn't think it would dry in time. I took the finished car to work. We have a small autoclave were we dry dessicants. I put the car in the autoclave, but forgot about it. The heat melted the wheels. I had to put four new ones just before registration.

Re: Ethics Question
Despite all the opportunities with multiple workshops I had a boy who showed up with a car that had been entirely boy built and frankly I was concerned it would not cross the finish line.BigSilver The problem we had was that Dads were completely building the cars without the son's assistance. I eve...

Timer intermittent
At our race, one of our newly modified Judges was intermittent during prerace testing. (I had it working perfectly at the house.) I thought I had found the problem at the DB9 connection with the included RJ handset/DB9 connector. I wiggled the connection a little and it all started working. We stopp...
