Re: My son won Districts again
Anyone can win once with a little luck. Now twice is not Luck! Congratulations Gavin and Garrett. Just curious... did you chop the rear end on the winning cars? And did you run on 3 or 4 wheels? Any pics? How many boys in your pack race? How many boys in your district race? Did you use Stan'...

Re: My son won Districts again
Congratulations! Quite an accomplishment, especially considering its not the first time. How many entries in your districts? Thanks. “How many entries” can be a bit deceiving. 20 packs make up the Bushy Run District race. But, only the top 3 cars from each pack are allowed to go to the race. So, on...

My son won Districts again
We had our District Championship tonight. My son Garrett ended up winning for the second year in a row. This was a relief since he BARELY won the Pack 2 nights ago, edging out his den mate and classmate Willy (and I helped the boy and his father to build the car as well). My son and Willy ended up g...

Mother's Billet
I was in the hardware store yesterday and noticed that there's a new premium Mother's out there called "Mother's Billet". It's like 3 times more expensive than the regular Mother's and it's guaranteed to be the best polish ever. Anyone know anything about this or think it might be a worthw...

We had the Raingutter Regatta tonight
We had our Raingutter Regatta tonight. Now, in the past, my son usually isn’t even halfway finished when the first boy hits the end of the gutter. Well, that darned Catamaran FLEW! It was actually kind of embarrassing. But, he ended up winning without losing a race. That’s the good part. The bad par...

Re: Bulk pumice
OK, I understand. But, is this a necessary step if you polish the axles with Mothers? What is the advantage the pumice offers over Mothers?PWD wrote:In the past we use it to polish axles and wheels.

Re: comparing times on aluminum tracks
.5 is very significant. I’ve noticed at our District races every year that the winner of the Tiger race and Cub race in the morning (Laurel Hills District) is always faster than the winner of the Tiger race and Cub race in the afternoon (Bushy Run District). I’ve always attributed it to the fact tha...

Re: comparing times on aluminum tracks
The time sounds very fast to me as well. But, you can't compare times between tracks, and you also can't compare times on the same track after you've taken it down and set it back up. Another factor is how high the track is each time. IMO, even 1/8th of an inch in height can make a big difference wh...

Re: Bulk pumice
Does anyone know where to buy pumice in bulk? Like what you get from WinDerby? It is only a $1.60 a bag at WinDerby but buying 10 bags is getting expensive every year. I would prefer to buy once and have it last 5 years. Thanks for any help, -Stev- What does the pumice to anyway? Is it necessary in...

Re: Catamaran
Rules. We just had a committee meeting the other night. Our Pack’s Pinewood Derby is coming up in a few months. I wanted to point out that we’ve always had a few problems with boys showing up every year with illegal cars and the problems that it causes on race day. I simply pointed out that we need ...

Re: Catamaran
I’ve done some Internet research and I’m starting to get some cold feet with the Catamaran design. This one guys complained about how he made a Catamaran only to later discover that he violated an “unwritten rule” at his pack. I’ll still try to use the Catamaran, but we’re going to build a back-up b...

New Tool
I always enjoy checking out Max-V’s new tools every year. One of the new tools is a tool that smoothes out the outer hub. I’ve thrown out “many a wheel” since the outer hub was so damaged. Anyone get the tool yet or have any thoughts on it?

Re: Catamaran
If there are no rules then there shouldn't be any concern about using a catamaran design. Instead of fearing rule changes to disallow catamarans maybe it will inspire others to be more creative. Good luck to your son in the race. Excellent point...and this is exactly what I was thinking as well. Th...
