Re: Disable a lane

Thanks for the quick reply. Glad to hear it will be easy to configure the software. The committee decided to purchase all the options (it was a real good popcorn year). I hope to get the track/timer/software assembled sometime in the next week or so, then do a bunch of testing/playing the week betwe...

Disable a lane

What would I need to do in the GPRM software to use only 4 of the 6 lanes on our track? Is there a way to specifically tell the software what lanes will be used?

Basically we have a 6 lane BestTrack with a MW K2 timer. We would like to use only lanes 2-5 (and not use lanes 1 and 6).

Re: How many lanes, and why?

I know that argument all too well. You should have seen the look on some committee members faces when I told them that due to the number of scouts in the pack, running our event using only 4 of the 6 lanes will actually give us the opportunity to run more heats per scout in the available time than r...

Re: How many lanes, and why?

My 2 cents (not that it is worth even that much right now). Just because you have 6, 8, 12, etc. lanes, does not mean you need to use all of them. It is possible to run a 2 lane elimination race on a 12, but I cannot run a 6 lane rotation schedule on a 4 lane track. Our pack just purchased a 6 lane ...

Re: Interested in going wireless?

Randy,

What ever happened with this idea? Is this the sort of device that you were talking about?

Re: Thinking of Next Year...

$4500? It's been awhile, but I think our pack's 48' 4 lane aluminum track plus timer was around $1600. Of course, doing one of the timer kits will save on cost. You could also try going around to local business and try to elicit donations. Pack only gets about a 30% cut of popcorn sold. So the $450...

Re: Thinking of Next Year...

If I could get the pack to sell enough popcorn to fully fund the other activities that we do, maybe then I could start to convince them to sell the additional $4500 that is needed to purchase a new 3 lane track and timing system (about $1000 just for the track the last time I checked). Unless I buil...

Are these still available somewhere? The links appear to not be working.

Re: Thinking of Next Year...

Thanks Stan. I have some reading up (and simulating) to do before we start planning next years event in a few months. The problem that I see with out current DE is actually a preliminary round that happens before the DE begins. For some reason (nobody can really explain why), the entire field is ran...

Thinking of Next Year...

OK, here is the issue. Next year, I will be in charge of the committee that is running our Pack PWD. I need ideas on a better method that what we are using. Currently, the pack is running a slightly modified Double Elim. I will not go into details about the modification, but lets just say that it is...

Re: Second place by an average of .0015 seconds.

I was not there to watch our district race this year, but as the district webmaster I was email the results to post to the site (still have to do that)... We had 70 cars entered. A few of them were not as competitve as the owners would have liked (one was buit by the firemen that work at the firehou...
