Re: RaceReplay hanging?
I know I'm way late in posting this, but I never follows up after our derby in January. For anyone else that may happen upon this thread, we had very good luck during our derby booting the laptop into "diagnostic mode" (which basically loads a limited set of background "stuff") a...

Re: Optimus Prime
On behalf of my son, thanks! I'll be sure to pass your comments along to him, as I really can not take credit for this build at all. From concept to finish, it was all his work. :) He tells me that this year he's building the matching trailer and he really wants lights & sounds. There were a cou...

Re: Nimbus 2000
 I thought this build looked familiar , but yes, thanks for sharing the details! Yup, obviously the same build. I'll bet Optimus (the other thread I posted last night) looks familiar, too. ;) I've been involved in cubs with my sons for the past 7 years, and we still have all of the cars. ...

Optimus Prime
My oldest son is now in boy scouts, but as Scoutmaster and Assistant Cubmaster, I try to keep the two units fairly closely assocated. So, the scouts assist at many of the cub events, including the Pinewood Derby. As a "thank you", all boy scouts that help on race day get a free entry into ...

Nimbus 2000
This was my son's car for our 2012 derby (he was a Bear). He was, and still is, a big Harry Potter fan ... so this was the first thing out of his mouth when I asked him what his plans were for a derby car. I have to admit, I had my doubts ... but I'm very happy with the results. We have a competitiv...

Re: "Fun" race starting method?
I just realized I never followed up with what I came up with ... so I figured I'd share. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14058694/permalinks/pwd-start-button.JPG I put everything inside an ABS project box, complete with an illuminated button, and painted it. Another pack leader designed and cut the graphic...

Re: Has anyone run a Blastcar race yet?
Thanks! Yeah, we'll be sure to have plenty of canisters, and I have spools of 50lb mono in my fishing gear, so we have plenty there. We are doing a dry run after our court of honor tomorrow night, so I hope to work out any big issues there. :-) The boys have been talking about this event ever since ...

Has anyone run a Blastcar race yet?
Our small troop is planning to hold our first Blastcar race next weekend. Looking for any tips anyone might care to share. We have the equipment, the boys have been working on their cars, and we figure we're going to learn a lot in the process. But, it'll be fun regardless of how it goes. :D We plan...

Re: RaceReplay hanging?
Thanks Randy. I believe that in my testing last night, I did see a replay of the last heat but only after I dismissed the prompt to run a grand finals round, which I won't do. I want paying attention that closely to that particular bit, though.

Re: RaceReplay hanging?
Well, I'll post back after our derby on the 28th and let you know how it goes. We run our derby by rank throughout the day, so I'll have 5 separate races, ranging from ~40 down to ~15 entrants. So, overall we'll run a pretty large number of heats.

Re: RaceReplay hanging?
Hi Peter, Our setup is basically the same as yours ... both GPRM & RR are running on the same machine (though set up in "Network mode" as recommended, using 127.0.0.1 as the IP). Your experience sounds like our experience last year, except that we were using "Local mode" last...

Re: RaceReplay hanging?
Hey Randy, I just wanted to pop in here and let you know that I continued with some additional testing and have had some success. I took one of my laptops and booted it in "diagnostic mode" (disabling all non-essential services and all startup items). Where I have never before gotten past ...

Re: RaceReplay hanging?
Randy, I did the same test (manual recording/stopping in RR) on the original laptop I tried, with two different firewire cameras as well as the "integrated webcam", just for grins. I sent you a couple more error reports from within RaceReplay, but the integrated webcam testing didn't pop u...

Re: RaceReplay hanging?
I was able to reproduce the problem without GPRM running. I was just sitting here hitting ctrl-r & ctrl-s to start/stop recording and letting the replay happen. On the 9th attempt, RR appeared to hang for a few seconds, then an error message window popped up. I typed a bunch of detail into it an...

Re: RaceReplay hanging?
Hey Randy, Storage limit setting is "Limit to 5000MB" (about 60GB free on the drive). Warn before deleting is NOT checked. Send deleted files to Recycle Bin IS checked. As this is not the laptop I used last year, I downloaded and installed GPRM & RR yesterday. RR version 2.0.2401.10, G...
