Re: Checking for BSA axles?
No, there's no way to tell as long as the axles started out as a BSA axle. That's a very little advantage if that's all that was done. If he bothered to buy axles he might also have purchased machined wheels and that's a different story. If someone is determined to cheat, they will cheat and probabl...

For Mr. Pope's explanation of removing the step completely, click on the topic "One small step for Pinekind".

Re: better aligned car slower on low slope
You WILD Awana racers. Why do you have a 1/4" gap? The difference in migration might simply be a slight difference in the amount of cant. With a credit card gap the wheels hit the head almost instantly.

Re: better aligned car slower on low slope
Nice looking car. On your new car, do the rear wheels stay on the axle heads both forward and backward?

Re: Axel polishing
Jorrfly, Welcome to DT. Great advice from FS. Troy's new book will give you a lot of information very quickly. I'm going to guess at something. If you are rubbing your finger nail over the grooves they do feel like grooves and they are. It is my understanding something grabs the nail on the shaft an...

Re: better aligned car slower on low slope
If by tuning board you are talking about a straight Incline board, it is my understanding the location of the COM would not be involved. The cars would have to go through the curve before the aggressive COM would help. Are these cars both rail riders? 3 wheelers? Same graphite? Did you lube both car...

Re: Axle Head Dynamics of Revell vs Box Wheels
I agree the step is not as deep. Here are my thoughts. Assuming you did nothing drastic to the wheels , the China wheels are consistently heavier than the wheels made in the U.S. I checked my scale with a 5 oz. weight and a 100 gram weight this morning. The China wheels weigh on average 2.75 grams. ...

Re: newbie ?
I did a test between Grease-em graphite used on couplers of model trains and Hob-E-Lube graphite. Grease-em is a very fine graphite and was consistently .03 seconds behind Hob-E-Lube. Test was done running the car down lane #1 of my track equipped with a Micro-Wizard timer.

Re: newbie ?
Me again, davit. Lots of questions. Did you race for speed at the Districts or were you entered for "Best Design" only? Did you place 1st or 2nd in the race in your Pack? We don't know your skill level. If you are just beginning I would recommend Troy Thorne's new book, "Building the ...

Hi davet. Welcome to DT. Guess What? I don't know anything about oil. However, would you send a picture of your son's car for us to see? Thank you.

Axle Preparation
Let us assume the wax product called "Red Rocket" used on the wheel bore does in fact make the car go faster with graphite. Would using the product applied to the axle be an advantage?

Re: Improving the stop section
I'm not a fan of running a scouts car into anything, ever. If the material is defective it would need to be replaced. IMO, Best Track made their stop section way to short. I would invest in another stop section and tie the two of them together. In my 27 years of racing, no car has ever come close to...
