Re: The West Coast Grand Prix

Dear Mr. Eagle, Standing behind the track as your picture shows, our vehicles right front wheels will be running down the right side of the guide strip. Our truck is at Maximum weight and very FAST. We fear if that truck flies off the track someone might be seriously injured. Would you please check ...

Re: Tonight is axels and wheel prep. Remind me...

Sleestak, I'd like to share a story with you and I promise I'll keep it short. A racer was caught at our District race with his wheels with probably a 2 1/2 degree cant which is illegal. I gave him 4 BSA nails, he inserted them in front of the Boss and me, and went on to win the District race. No re...

Re: This forum section is for Off Topic conversations

Randy, I do that a lot so I don't knock someones Really important thing off a very popular topic. Tungsten is not as important as Eagles Grand Prix race. I'm on Derbytalk a minimum 3 times a day, year around. I scroll down every Topic and the date will jump out at me so I think I never miss anything...

Doug, I watched the video. It was Great!!!
When the design competition opens, I'm voting for your tie. You're going to take 1st place.

Does that gym have Stadium seating?

Re: The West Coast Grand Prix

Doug, what's the address the checks made out to Doug Griffith go too? Or, can we just include a separate check along with the cost of the return Postage when we send the cars and trucks?

Hobby Lobby 3 oz tungsten

Is your choice to put 1 1/2 ounces of weight behind the rear axle slot? Here's how you can do it for $7.20 a year. Hobby Lobby's 3 ounce package of 3/8" incremental tungsten cylinders cost $23.99 less $9.60 with the 40% OFF 1 item coupon leaves $14.39. The 3/8" cylinder will easily fit in a 3/8" dri...

Re: Benefit's of Positive Camber

This is a very interesting Topic for those who are required to have all 4 wheels touching and roll. Don't ask me why they put in the rules "and roll". Info: I use the axle bender where the nail is put in the tool and you pull up on the handle to get the bend. Rear wheels and dfw are bent to 1 1/2 de...

Re: Pipe Cleaners

Here's something you might like to try. BSA has a bore of .097, Awana bore is larger ( ? ) Do one of your other preps or do one of each. Then take a "Walgreens" cotton swab shaft (.099) and Novus 2 and polish it again. See if anything (crud) comes out on the shaft. Looking through the bore with a ma...

Re: Polishing AWANA axles

What is the diameter of an Awana axle and does it have a coating? Maybe Zinc? I'd like to start with sharing a little information. Autobody repairman will run their flat hand over the area where a filler (Bondo) meets the metal. Why do they do that? They do that because the tips of the fingers are v...

Re: Pennies From Heaven !!

I'm going to assume you cannot extend the wheelbase. You're not going to be able to do a wedge with that wheelbase. The long end for the Front is fine because it is about the same as the BSA Front. The back is the problem. I transferred the weight of the pennies to 7 - 3/8" x 1/2" tungsten cylinders...

Re: Pennies From Heaven !!

RR, I emailed you some pictures of the car. I just wanted to let you know where you could get the 3000 grit sandpaper if you wanted to go to a finer grit. I think it would not be worth it. I would listen to Loud2ns and what he said under the Topic "General Topics". He has experience with Awana axles...

Re: Pennies From Heaven !!

Ratrodsrules1, Welcome to Derby talk. Auto Zone sells a single sheet of 3M 3000 grit Trizact Performance Sandpaper wet use only. I know, I'm on the wrong Topic. FWIW, Doc Jobe says there is a benefit for the short wheel base and a benefit for an extended wheelbase and they cancel each other out. I w...
