Re: New builder needing help

Yep, that's what he's using. I have both packages in front of me. One has 4 weights. The other box has 2 weights, 23/64" drill bit, 3 mm adjustment tool and instructions. The Toledo store had only one of each, I bought them both and they are not buying anymore. They are getting rid of the Pinewood D...

Re: New builder needing help

Would you please send a picture of what this weight looks like and also with 6 of them installed in a car. At what point does the car balance with the wheels and axles on it?
Where did you buy these weights and how much did they cost?

Re: New builder needing help

Singledad, would you please give me some information on "lead" screw in weights. Where did you buy these weights? Are they actually made out of lead or some other material perhaps the density of lead? What are their size? What are their weight? I know you want to build a very fast car because you bo...

Re: New builder needing help

Loud2ns, what type and shape weight will you use to weight the car, how much weight behind the rear axle slot, and what COM are you striving for?

Re: New builder needing help

It surprises me you' re allowed to have an extended wheel base but they put the "4 on the ground" rule back. That's disappointing.

Re: New builder needing help

Does the track have a timer that shows Elapsed Time? Just for fun, put two 1/2 ounce tungsten plates directly behind the rear axle slot and one 1/2 ounce tungsten plate in front of the rear axle slot. Keep the balance point close to 1" in front of the rear axle slot. Race it first against another ca...

Re: New builder needing help

Welcome to Derbytalk, Singledad2019 I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of the car and hearing from you. We all know we can't break the Laws of Physics and speed is all about Physics. With that wheelbase I'm wondering if you are racing scouts? I would recommend you buy Troy Thorne's 2013 book, B...

Re: Pit Road - Car Parking

I apologize for the misunderstanding and it is all my fault. I wanted the blocks to measure 1 1/2" wide so hopefully it would be easy for the young scouts to set their cars on the block. I started with a 1" x 6" x 8' board and cut pieces 1 1/2" wide. After checking the Internet I learned a 1" x 6" b...

Re: Pit Road - Car Parking

We have 100 wood blocks measuring 3/4"x1 1/2"x6". They can be spaced as near or far away from each other as you choose. They are placed on a table and the table is roped off. An adult is stationed at the table so no one touches the cars after the scout places his car on a block. Pictures can be take...

Re: Wanted - Workshop Tools and Race Supplies

"to maybe catch someone". You might be able to do this. Please allow me to share my experience. I am on Derbytalk 3 times a day everyday of the year. I look for this and it happened to me last September. For $50.00 I received over $250 in parts and supplies. The more parts and supplies I get the fas...

Re: Need new timer- suggestions?

Hi Jeff. Welcome to Derbytalk. Jeff, the Champ timer was designed for the Best track. It installs very easily. It probably is the most expensive to buy but our Pack felt it was well worth it. The initial cost is not the only thing that needs to be considered. Will they be around for years to come? I...
