Re: night-before-race tuning ?

My COM is at 1 1/16" with rear axle moved back 3/8". I cut off a portion of the back of the block to mount weight. I'm trying to determne if I should just run her straight or if my slight positive camber will cause it to try to ride up on the center strip. http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l618/ts...

night-before-race tuning ? Race results added

Rear wheels ride to the nail head. RF wheel is off the track. DFW (LF) is very slightly set with positive camber. The wheel rides to the inside but wheel is flat on ground. Should I steer it toward rail or is this not enough positive camber. I can run it straight too. I narrowed front body at axle h...

Re: surprise!

I can't rule out the repaired block idea. I didn't examine it that close out of the box. It looked square all around. I didn't have any trouble with slitting at all during shaping. It's one of those things. We're ready for tomorrow's race and I'm content with that. Thanks.

Re: surprise!

As we were turning it down I noticed too a length of what appears to be wood filler. It runs front to back on the side of our missile. It's about 3" long and up to 3/8" wide at it's widest. It wasn't until we got it turned down to about 1 3/8" diameter that I began to see it. It's not in a structura...

surprise!

My boy and I turned down a standard BSA block into a missile from a BSA kit given to us at our Pack Meeting. While cutting slits in the side for some "quivers" at the tail I found a nail or some piece of shiny steel. It's running vertically inline with the rear axle slot and about 3/8" in from the s...

No!
How do you do those cool links?
So I'll run Hob-E-Lube. I read on hear where someone says to use Liquid Glass on the bores then graphite. What is the Novus 2 procedure? Are the Q-tips better than the cotton pipe cleaners?

Re: newbie ?

With one week left to finish the car and still have to start the axles/wheels give me this please: 1) Correct bore prep for graphite. 2) I'll polish the axles to jewelers-polish level with no groove. Which graphite? Last year I put graphite on a rag and rubbed it against the spinning axle in a drill...

Re: newbie ?

It's not a spray on. It just puffs out of the tube. I had some Novus around I used for polishing the windows on my Jeep. I run it on a pipe cleaner last year in one of my wheels and overdid it. Deformed the bore. I thought more and faster was better. Hob-e-Lube is what I should run? This Panef is so...

Re: newbie ?

I used Panef brand Lub-A-Spray dry powdered graphite and I polish the bores with toothpaste. After the toothpaste I followed up the bores with graphite on a pipe cleaner. I tried the moly graphite and it seemed really coarse and my spin times were much slower than with the Panef. Because of a bout o...

Re: newbie ?

I used the treadmill because it didn't contaminate my wheels. After the Pack race I relubed and tuned it on a board but it seemed that no matter how much I swept or wiped it I kept getting dust sticking to the wheels. I may varnish or seal the board and use it again. I am an amateur for sure. Never ...
