Re: Help moving com back
Also to answer your other question the weight should be as concentrated as feasible. So putting a heavy weight in back and then needing to put another weight really far forward in order to achieve the com is not ideal.

Re: Help moving com back
If it were me I would just grab three 1/2 oz. weights and balance the car on a ruler or even your finger. Find out where it balances and then play around with the weights by placing them on top of the car. Try to get it to balance about an inch or so in front of the rear axles. As long as it balance...

Re: 3 lane wood Piantedosi track For Sale
Well I was hoping to own a little piece of Cubscout history and the track does look beautiful. Unfortunately the wife does not feel it is as great of an investment as I do. I guess it's off to the Track forum to find a cheap alternative and make my own test track. Your track looks to be in gre...

Hmm interesting any pics? I wonder how much shipping would be? You're only about 2.5 hours away from me. Might be worth the drive. Does that particular timer spit out actual times or just finish order?

Re: Four on the floor rail rider thoughts
Well it sounds like we will be sticking with negative cant and slight toe out on the barely touching NDFW. However in the interest of pinewood science does anyone see any drawbacks to trying positive cant with slight toe out on the barely touching NDFW? The only concern I can think of is making sure...

Re: Four on the floor rail rider thoughts
Great thank you for the response. Did you find it easier to get the "raised" wheel to touch the floor slightly with the positive cant as opposed to a negative cant? Also did you put any toe out on the "raised" wheel or did you just keep it neutral? I think I'm going to try your m...

Re: How would you handle this?
I am no expert but it sounds like you handled it well. The boy still got to participate but any advantage he was going to have from a car built and tuned by someone else was destroyed the moment all the axles were pulled. It probably still performed decently and he got to enjoy the event. Had it bee...

Re: Four on the floor rail rider thoughts
In my earlier post I linked someone's 4wheeler that appeared to have positive cant on both fronts. That could be a "rail hugger" configuration. Both fronts rolling. Both tuned to run straight. Both indented. If you look through his build photos though http://www.derbytalk.com/viewtopic.ph...

Re: Four on the floor rail rider thoughts
How can I help? In order for the four on the flour method to work right and be fast, when u have to do 4 wheel touching. You have to have the front right wheel drift to the rail. At least doing 60% of the drift to 70% . The non dom left front wheel. Has to do at least 10 to 20% toe out drift . To h...

Re: How to secure DFW axle?
Right or wrong I used a little wood glue in the slot. I'm not sure what the best choice would be for easy later removal but I think getting the white glue or wood glue wet would do the trick to loosen it later.

Re: Four on the floor rail rider thoughts
Thanks again Speedster. It's unfortunate that I have to do this with bent axles, and the 4 wheels touching rule is just plain stupid! :burningmad: Not to beat a dead horse but you said: If you have Positive cant on both front wheels you will also have toe-in. They will be fighting each other all the...

Re: Four on the floor rail rider thoughts
Thank you for the response Speedster! I guess that maybe I should have clarified a couple things. Due to a coping saw incident (100% my fault) the entire front half of the car is very thin. So as per Sporty's info I was hoping to do everything with simply a collection of bent axels. I don't know if ...
