Re: Wheel Bore Waxes

I can't comment on a lot of the other waxes as I don't know what they are, so no idea on initial cost of the wax. But I can comment on the Legends. You yourself know that it's very expensive. The question becomes do you think [no advertising for this vendor]'s price for it is too high or not for the...

Re: Wheel Bore Waxes

As Greg said, waxing does help. As to the reverse engineering part, is it worth it? The vendors have done the testing and are selling what they've found to work best for a price that takes into account all of their costs. Time, waxes that don't work, all the incidentals we forget about: lathed wheel...

Re: Going Fast

I've used the polishing papers DerbyEvolution sells with great results.

Used them with Water. When I used to use Micromesh, I saw much better results using Ny-Oil over water or dry. Like the results better with the polishing papers than Micromesh or regular wet/dry paper.

Re: Do you sell product at workshops?

We starts charging $5 a family to attend the workshop. Lead is free. We usually have drinks and at least donuts for the boys. The extra cash goes towards all the other incidentals that use to come out of pocket: sandpaper, drill bits, graph paper, Dremel bits, and such. Also it allowed us to purchas...

Re: Need to fix broken car for district

When you talk to him, offer to show him the car if that helps show how much damage there is and that its real.

Re: Need to fix broken car for district

I would talk to your district person to see if you can build another. Our former district person was under the impression that they had no idea what the car looked like in the first place. They wouldn't know if a different car had been built. They wanted the boys to have fun and race to their best. ...

Re: Fenders-Are they legal?

The 3/8" rule is usually to ensure the car doesn't bottom out during the transition to the flat section of the track on the center rail. We never enforce it in regards to fenders. As to weight location, I've never tried hanging weights that low. I always try to keep it at the middle of the axle...

Re: Peculiar Rules, Advice Needed on build

About item 5, I see nothing that would stop someone from narrowing the car body then adding cant and still stay within the required wheel track. I mean, that 2 3/4" width requirement is what's listed, not a width for the body.

Re: Axle Comparison

The semi truck kits came with 18 wheels each, if i remember correctly. Ours seemed to not have some mold numbers at all with getting 54 wheels.

Re: Axle Comparison

Yes they do. I've never been a fan of thinking someone is cheating based on matching mold numbers or making matching wheels illegal. Too manyvlegal ways to get them. You could always buy extra tubes of wheels trying to match. We personally bought three of the semi kits that first year of the new whe...

Re: Axle Comparison

I agree with this approach, although I'd worry that a rule like "Only BSA Made in USA axles" might raise questions because there is nothing directly on the axle as to its country of origin. Perhaps some "unskilled builders" not appreciating the intent might find it silly or lega...

Steve wasn't kidding about awesome prices. $.95 laser cut car bodies... You won't see that again.
That's just one of the many deals.
Still a few hours left to take advantage of the sale.

Re: Axle Comparison

No problem. Just wanted to be sure. I can rub folks the wrong way. I have dealt with my share of accusations of cheating/my son not building his car. I've seen my share of boys and parents forced to completely redo their cars on raceday because someone didn't like the way it was. Something that happ...
