Re: Axle Comparison
psycaz, the Boss can make any rule. Our District does not allow Revell pre-cut cars and it is specifically stated. That alone will stop most people. If we are not allowed to polish axle heads we will have to live with it. The shaft can be polished while the nail is in a vise and a dremel tool is us...

Re: Axle Comparison
When we polish axles in our drill press, the polish runs down onto the heads. When you're using a cloth to remove the polish, we've always ended up touching the heads, hence polishing them. I'm not sure how you would be able to rule out a product that carries the BSA logo on it, in regards to the Re...

Re: BSA axles vs. plated oversized axles?
A nickel plated axle and stainless steel axle will be much more shiny then a zinc plated axle. That is what tipped me off initially. The axles in question "look" much more shiny than any BSA axle I have ever seen. Other than "it looks shinier than every other axle here," any sug...

Re: Rectangular tungsten weight
I wouldn't like that for my only source of weight. Not enough options to move weight around. I've used the plates behind the axle as I used to always just fill that area with cubes anyway so plates fit in the same area. I've used the plates to weigh an entire car too. I now use cubes exclusively. Yo...

Re: Rectangular tungsten weight
Can you post a link so we know which product you're asking about?
I've used the tungsten plates before but am not sure if those are what you're referring to.
I've had no issues with the plates. Just prefer the cubes personally.

Re: Thin car blues
If I am routing out weight cavities, I do it before I cut the block down. Helps a ton with the chipping and cracking. Lately, we've just cut through the entire slab then cap it with 1/32" basswood. WAY easier. For the fronts, you don't need that much difference between the two hole heights. You...

Re: First teardown and best way to get epoxy off tungsten??
We use CA glue, to get the cubes back out, pound the body against something solid like metal. The shock will crack the glue and eventually the cubes will come out. I've only broken on car getting them out this way. One of my first attempts. It might work with epoxy as well. To get it off the cubes ...

I thought it was different plating. Something adjusted for simple attachment.

Re: Did anyone see the new PWD items at Scoutstuff.org?
It's good to see the National Org get behind the newer tools available. Now if we can get the local folks to acknowledge the same.
Pictures on that playing would be extremely helpful. A video on usage would probably quadruple sales at a minimum.

Let me know if you are willing to split the building supplies. I'd be interested in those.

Re: Custom Paint Stencils
You could try tracing it out on frog tape and then cutting it out. That's the painters tape you can find in places like Walmart that supposedly keeps a sharp edge. It's like the frisket film. The other thing you could try is contacting Derby Evolution and see if its something he can do custom for yo...

Re: Who sells the best block?
Drill your holes first into a block of your choice, then tape two hacksaw blades together and cut your own slots. We've done this for years. Just make sure to cut into each edge of the block them connect across the bottom. Helps keep the blades where you want.

Re: My clone (nellie 2) "balsa Fenders"
Great looking work Sporty. You got a weight on a single fender out of balsa compared to your pine template one so folks can have a weight difference between? I thought about trying out of balsa, but just ended up buying a pine set from DerbyEvolution. Never got around to making the car though, this ...
