Is this a good deal? Test Track and timer $75

I have someone who has the besttrack #120 test track and a Newbold DT1000 single lane timer. All of this for $75. I have just ordered 4 7.75 foot track plating from Betacrafts to build my own but need a timer anyways for a single lane. They do not sell this timer anymore so I do not know what that a...

Re: Fastest axles?

Does anyone know the prep process for nickel plated axles? I know you would not want to use lower sand paper on it but do you want to use a high grit to smooth it out further? I always use mother's on my axles at the end as well.

What is your best form of weight?

I was wondering what most people favor when it comes to weights and the placement. I have noticed alot of people going with the round tungsten. I would want the weight as low as possible so I assume thats why people are putting it down in their car body. A couple years ago I went with the tungsten p...

Re: Where to find axles

I did not see on either page that they are .091" diameter unless I just missed it on the sites.

Fastest axles?

For graphite, which purchased axles are the fastest? And would nickel plated ones be faster than the speed axles for sale online?

Thanks

Re: Track Timer A True blessing ! Alignment break through

If others know you have your own track, some take that as cheating since you have a clear advantage over them. It just depends how much you want to put into it anyways! :)

Re: Pencil on axle?

I just use something a puffer to get the graphite in. But be sure to run in a few times atleast somewhere smooth to break in the graphite. If you could time the first run from when you put graphite in the wheels / axles to 3 or 4 runs I imagine you would see a time difference. I see parents "po...

Re: Track Timer A True blessing ! Alignment break through

Thanks for the link Stan. I had read one of your pages a year back but was a bit technical for me! After reading this page, my worry is getting the rear wheels to go in parallel without any "pinching" against or out from each other. This is especially if you use bent axles in the rear. My ...

Re: Track Timer A True blessing ! Alignment break through

This is good to know for fine tuning your car. I am about to build a track myself to match the length of our pack's aluminum 32 foot track. I'm going to use that track plating like on the challenger track plans. I have a timer that I bought from MicroWizard last year as a kit but cannot remember if ...

Re: Beta Craft track plating for a test track?

Thanks for the link. This is very close to what I was planning to do. These plans just give me more of a direction to follow. I probably won't start it for 2-3 weeks - have to take care of Christmas for my three kids first! But I'll be sure to post pictures of it being built and completed. I only ne...

Re: Wheel replacement guide questions

Thanks for the input! I think I will use the peg and mount the 4th wheel on the other side near the back. Even though it will be legal, if the peope inspecting the cars just say no, I'll remove the peg and put the wheel up front. I'll go ahead and drill a hole for the axle and have it ready. The whe...

Re: Beta Craft track plating for a test track?

I was just looking at other web sites that used this tracking but many of them placed it over their existing wooden track. I was thinking that instead of using plywood under the whole thing, if I built the frame and supported it with cross members every few feet - just something 1" thick and 4&...

Beta Craft track plating for a test track?

Hi Everyone, I've been looking at this track plating they sell at Beta Crafts to use for building a test track. How flexible is this material? And would I need to use plywood behind it for support? Or is there anything else that will flex a little better that plywood for support? I would love to see...

Re: Wheel replacement guide questions

After reading this thread I thought about using a peg in place of a front wheel. Our rules state that you must have all four wheels mounted on the car but we are allowed to run with a raised wheel. And we do not have to use the slots either. So one question I have is would it be fair and not against...
