Re: Air Power

I built this car for fun to see what it could do. It ended up weighing in at 4.7 oz and will fit in all the standard gauges. I ended up using a 7.4 volt Lipo battery but at some point I plan to play around with capacitors to bump that voltage up some. I ran out of time so the wheels and axles have n...

Re: Awana Grand Prix Format

Just a quick update and thank you to everyone. Our kids race was held on February 16th. We had 41 clubbers participate and all went very smoothly. It only took us 43 minutes to run 41 races. We had an adult up by the starting line that was responsible for getting the cars for the next heat set up in...

Re: GPRM Computer Specs

Just wanted to post a quick update. We ran our adult race yesterday afternoon and it was so smooth using GPRM. We had 16 adults competing. We ran 16 heat races and then took the top 8 cars based on average time. It took us 19 minutes to run the 16 heats. Things that I noticed were; There was less do...

Driver Photo Orientation

I am wondering if there is a way to change the driver photo from portrait to landscape orientation? We are planning to display photos of the car rather than the builder. I adjusted the dimensions of the photo but this did not change how the picture was displayed. Is it possible to change this?

Re: Dropping races

Thanks for the feedback. My ultimate goal is to manage the race and time well enough that we can avoid having to worry about running fewer races than we plan so any tips that help us accomplish this are even better! During the race the children are sitting either with the leaders of their age group ...

Re: Dropping races

We are running our adult race 3 weeks before the kids race and planning to use this as a time to test our procedures for the kids race. We are planning to have two adults at the end of the track that will be responsible for retrieving the cars at the end of the race. My biggest concern is that we ha...

Dropping races

I have been playing around with mock schedules the last couple of nights and am really looking forward to using this during both our adult and kids Awana race. One concern I have is making sure that the race stays on time. I know in the other thread I started a number of people thought we could easi...

Re: Awana Grand Prix Format

Thanks for the advice. We also experienced issues with having enough light to trigger the sensors. My solution was to find a small under cabinet florescent light that fit perfect on the timer. One thought that I just had was that with the florescent cycles this may change the time ever so slightly? ...

Re: Awana Grand Prix Format

Any suggestions for using the time method if the timer does act up? If the timer is acting up, the best option is to switch to Points scoring. Some timers can be susceptible to electronic interference. I always recommend to run any power cords on one side of the track and the computer and start swi...

Re: GPRM Computer Specs

Is it allowable to have the software on two computers used at the same site? IIRC the licensing agreement for GPRM allowed for installation on up to two computers. You are correct. Just made the purchase and downloaded the demo. It says in there that the license is for no more than two computers at...

GPRM Computer Specs

I have a couple of questions about GPRM. I am waiting to hear back from one person but I think I have the go-ahead to order this. I have a few questions about computer requirements. It indicates that the minimum requirements are 2.2 GHz. My current laptop that I would like to use is only 1.2 Ghz. Wo...

Re: Awana Grand Prix Format

A wild card race could be fun. We have also discussed the idea of having a final race between each of the classes. Since we have a 4 lane track and 4 age groups that could be fun and get all of the clubbers involved in cheering for the representative from their age group. Speaking of speeding ticket...

Awana Grand Prix Format

I just found out last week that me and my wife will be in charge of running our Awana Grand Prix this year. When we started discussing the race she asked me for suggestions on how to run the race so I figured I would come to the experts :scratching: The background In previous years we have had a low...

Adults and Outlaws

I am not really sure about where to put this so if it does not fit here, mods please feel free to move or delete this post. Last night was our Awana Grand Prix. We usually have very good attendance for the race with most of the parents attending. After the race I had a few parents approach me about ...

Re: 2 Hour Workshop

Thanks for the thoughts. I have really been trying to encourage the organizer to do some sort of education at the start of the event. In the past the event has been more along the lines of "this is where everything is, this is who is here to help, have fun.
