Re: Utah Stock Car
Nice looking car although I couldn't copy it exactly because we have to use the standard wheelbase. Are the 1 gram wheels lathed by yourself or someone else? I have been contemplating an Outreach ministry such as this. :) I have a couple questions if you don't mind? :?: When doing a long distance ou...

Re: Got thumped
As far as my thoughts, I see nothing wrong with it if it is within the rules provided (which it is for our particular Council so long as no part of the car protudes past the starting peg). I do dislike the term "Cheater" Bar in that it connotes cheating even when it is an approved design....

Re: Thanks to the forum! my son is on his way to district
Congrats to your son!
Could it have been a 48' Piantedosi Freedom Aluminum track by chance?
Do you have any pics of the track set-up?
Again congrats to your son.

Re: A few bad apples at the district
Also, just because there is no graphite present doesn't mean there is oil. You can't really prove it without removing wheels. Someone may have just decided to run it dry. Not the usual case, but you can't prove otherwise. We had a couple Cubs in our Pack that had Grandparents help them with their c...

Re: How Are Track Lengths Measured?
gpraceman is correct in saying that track manufacturers measure end to end but of course he left out SuperTrack which uses 7' sections. I wasn't sure offhand, so I only listed those that I knew. However, again as user of our noted, 7' sections fit in a mini-van, weigh less and stand up in an 8' roo...

Re: How Are Track Lengths Measured?
The reasoning for the 94" sections is to be able to fit them into a case made from 8' plywood. True, and I like that feature. We built two crates (one for our pack's track and one for our Awana missionary's track) and they do a good job at protecting the track during storage and transportation...

Re: Scroll Saw vs. Band Saw
Thanks again all for the commentary and sharing. Pinewood Daddy - no issues! TAL, Dozer - I was looking at some of the $99 stuff from HD. I had to replace my lawn tractor this year and am trying to get a nice ring for the wife for our 10th anniversary, so both are out of the question for now. One t...

Re: Scroll Saw vs. Band Saw
I bought the Ryobi 16" scroll saw from HD and it was $99.00. :D It will cut the 2" block but it has to work at it. :) A good band saw would cut it easier I think. :?: The scroll saw is a lot easier for me to carry with me and let others use it. In the great scheme of things if you can affo...
