Re: Rail rider question
Looks like a really flat slope for a best track.

That skull image is from the hydro dip? Or did you add that afterwards?

Re: Devising a test to catch instability
That's definitely going to be a challenge. My first thoughts were to use a push plate that slide on a slot on the rail, instead of pushing you could try using a pulley system, or simply use a more aggressive slope angle. Each option has drawbacks that will effect how the car runs when trying to acce...

Re: Best Track Mods
My bad. For some reason I got it in my head that the last mod they were talking about that effected the times was yours. The track our district uses for all the packs doesn't have a foam bumper for the start gate. Here is a video of how the NPWDRL start gate swings. I believe this has the Owens mod ...

The track our district uses for all the packs doesn't have a foam bumper for the start gate. Here is a video of how the NPWDRL start gate swings. I believe this has the Owens mod but before the bracket racer mod. I don't know what else was done to get it to swing down fast and not bang into the unde...

Re: Best Track Mods
Our pack's BT had a pretty good jolt when the gate released. NPWDRL has had the Owens for a while and just recently made the bracket racer mod. That one improved average track times around 0.02. I am not sure what mod was done to get the start gate to swing down and not bang into anything. A lot of ...

Re: District Results -- Car slowing way down
Comparing lane to lane the times were pretty close except lane 3. First time it hit sub 2.97 and the finals had the worse time of 3.01. Too bad the scoring didn't throw out the worst time but I don't think that is done a lot with only 4 lanes. That one bad run could have been many different things f...

Re: Ever Hear of Krytech Dry Wax Lube
Some vendors have secret blends where they change the viscosity to get the performance they want but they start with Krytox as the base. Yes like the chain saver or jig you spray it on an axle, shake off excess, and set to dry for about 20 mins. I would make something to set the axles in so that the...

Re: weight, anyone doing the new placement ?
I was experimenting with my own washer wheel weights. The washers that I found that have the same OD but a smaller ID where "fender" washers. The ID is only 1/4". I was able to fit a stack of 4 inside the wheel but even with a tight wheel gap the bottom edge stuck out of the wheel and...

You should be able to find it at Lowes, Homedepot, or Ace. Dupont Chain Saver was the big thing until Jig-a-Loo was discovered. Jig-a-Loo is not being sold in the US by any distributors now. Another option that I have read that was tested to be competitive in league races was Mo-deck lawn mower deck...

Re: Times for 35' Best track
Even with using the default best track setup the slope angle can vary. For our pack I checked the angle with an app on my phone and it was mid 25.something degrees. Default specs state it is supposed to be 26*. Several of the leagues have theirs at 27.1*

Still think drilling 3/8" holes and getting the lead free pwd weights at the hobby store is pretty easy.

Re: Wheel Question
Congrats to your son making the finals at districts. Hope your son had a great pwd experience and it gives him motivation to do even better next year. That drift is pretty light. Even a lot of the fastest league racers still start at 4" over 4' then make adjustments from there. It is definitely...

Re: To Shave or Not to Shave the Hubs
Having the point of friction closer to the axis of rotation of a spinning object reduces it's effect. The center of a wheel is moving slower then the outside of the wheel with regards to linear speed. The outside of the wheel travels a greater distance then the center each rotation. The rim of a whe...
