Re: Adhesive vinyl -for underbody

Several people use monokote, but not on the bottom. I use the foil tape and do not glue the weight in.

Re: Newbie to site, veteran Pine Car Builder, cambering?

Camber does 2 things. It reduces contact with the track which decreases the chances of hitting bad parts of the track, and it causes wheels to migrate towards the head of the axle. No, you should not camber razor wheels.

The open scout division is oil. I believe there is an adult division that is graphite only.

Re: How to keep eBay cars out of your race

We race in a big district. I would bet money there are multiple ebay cars. They don't even come close.

Re: Thinking of entering Mid America Open Scout Division?

Last year the live stream was not that great. There was no audio, and you couldn't really tell which car was which. I saw in a different thread that they are planning on it being much better this year. The best part of the feed was the chat where you got to talk to the different people in the race.

Re: Thinking of entering Mid America Open Scout Division?

Mid America Derby, I believe, is a council race for Missouri. As part of their council race they allow proxy cars in the different divisions. To answer your question, I am about 99% sure that to qualify for the "qualified scout division" you have to qualify at a district race in Missouri. ...

Re: Rail riding on non-DFW?

My understanding of the physics of it is that because the DFW is moving less energy is lost when it contacts the rail. When the non DFW contracts the rail it causes the wheel to start spinning which uses energy and in turn slows the car. That is the theory behind it anyway.

Re: First teardown and best way to get epoxy off tungsten??

I did the same thing with a car last year. It started out being stained, but I broke it while installing needle axles (outlaw car). I was able to glue it back together, but because I hollowed the car out I couldn't fix the thin wood. I just covered it with the tape and it looked pretty good.

Re: Going Fast

I got the same pack last year. I did not see it this year. Not sure if they were just sold out. It so happened to be in the same isle with the PWD stuff, but it was with the airbursh stuff.

$30 is highly more available to the average person than a lathe or CNC machine.
