Re: New to the site

:welcome: There are a lot of gurus here, and most (all?) are very very helpful. Pretty much everything I have learned over the years came from this board.

Re: Pack overall winner found to have violated rules

Rukkian, in our case the car was dripping oil on the track. While we were cleaning the track the oil car changed his wheels and axles and ran with graphite. We had no choice but to stop the race. The gentleman who was instrumental in our getting a beautiful track was allowed to be the inspector as ...

Re: Pack overall winner found to have violated rules

I, personally do not think anything should be done once the car passes inspection. Once the races start, it should be good to go, as the scout no longer has a chance to fix it. As for moving on, if it wont pass inspection, then it should not move on, unless they can fix it before hand. If the car ha...

Re: Mold numbers and used/last year's wheels

I am by no means an expert, but from what I understand, the molds do not make as much of a difference on newer wheels. Mold matching was much more critical on the old (pre - 2009) wheels since certain molds typically made much better wheels. Mold matching is less about matching, then it is about get...

Re: Question - 3 Lane Track, equal numbre of races in each l

Many good responses already, but here are my thoughts: If you have a snap open gate that works well with a consistent timer start (IE not a laser gate), then times are fine. I personally think that points are more exciting in a smaller race, since it is all about who wins. If you run 2 times down ea...

Re: District Best Design-No Awards

The district I was part of in Minnesota (Northern Star) did not have design trophies, and the district race I am running this year (Raccoon River Valley in Des Moines) is not planned to have one. There has not been a district event at all in my current district for like 20 years, so no idea what kin...

Re: Proving a point

To my knowledge, nobody has ever made comments about me building one of my son's car, but who would they complain to, as I am always the commissioner, and do most (~75%) of the work for setting up the derby by myself. I have run derby workshops in my Dad's garage the last couple of years, and 2 year...

Re: Foam pit stadium display

It is too late to buy them this year, since the budget is already set for our pack race, but I may try to get something for next year.

I knew it was not exactly what you were looking at. I cannot even image trying to keep that many cars. Are you looking to display them, or just store them?

Re: Resolution 2014: How do you keep your racers?

My 2 boys each have a trophy shelf in their room, below each, there is another shelf just to display their pwd cars. We put small blocks of oak under each one (stained to mach the shelf). We usually keep the last few cars in a case we made (more like repurposed) for transporting cars. I found a chea...

Be careful what you wish for!

I have been trying since we moved to our new district and council to get a district race started, as it was a big honor and an awesome experience in our old Council for my boys. It was the highlight of the year, and something they looked forward to. Due to some changing of the guard and new people t...

Re: District Invitational

I had not heard of that either. I assumed you would not want ranks racing against each other. I know that in districts (and council) that my boys particpated in in our old council, My son (tiger at the time) got 2nd in districts and 9th in council, but would have been 9th in district and 35th in cou...

District Invitational

I apologize for the long post, but would like some guidance from the gurus here. Our pack has purchased a new track, and with it, we are looking (with my suggestion) to get some sort of district race for the area. At this point, the District is not sponsoring the event, nor promoting it, but I have ...

Re: Pro Rail Rider Tool Problem

The vice sounds like a good way to do it and avoid the impact and potential damage. We may have to give that shot this year.
